ORBX Making an Official Jurassic Park Addon for 2024

Featured Replies

It's pretty obvious that the 'serious' simmers should be using XP12 or MSFS 2020.  That was they can leave MSFS 2024 to us kids.

  • You have to walk over a lot of products from a lot of devs like Fenix, PMDG, COWS, A2A, FSLabs, Black Square, FS Reborn etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. to arrive at one harmless / silly / fun addon and concl

Wow, just love the tantrums that erupt when a dev comes up with something a little different. Personally, I think this will be alot of fun to explore. Lighten up folks. Jase

I don't believe that.🤔  This brings more people into the hobby and keeps it going.  This scenery had me seriously considering getting 2024 for this add-on alone (and I'm a serious simmer).  It's amazing what they've done here.  They need more Dino's in the park though...

FS2020

Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

I'm not a great fan of the films and I don't own an xbox but I wouldn't mind getting this. It looks like it would be fun to explore.

I hope that it is better than Jurassic World - Dominion. That was the worst movie in the entire franchise.

I bought this and have spent a good few hours on it.  Here are my thoughts...

My settings were 4k, all basically ultra settings.  LODs were 200 object and 400 terrain.  DLSS on quality setting, 30 frames locked but doubled to 60 with DLSS FG.
The experience was smooth throughout with no noticeable stuttering or performance issues.

Things I really like: -
That they bothered to make it.
That it covers a vast area, with all of the islands, the mainland international airport, and all of the detailed buildings, vehicle tracks, monorail etc.
The Dinosaur animations really are absolutely excellent.  You have to see them to believe them!
The overall atmosphere of the islands is superb and makes you want to explore and find things.
Attention to detail, like the iconic Jurassic park doors opening for the monorail to let it through etc.

Things I really don't like: -
Grass / Bush LOD.  The visible grass forms quite a close range ring around the aircraft and looks terrible.  Spoils the immersion when landing etc.  I wish they could do something about it.

Things I hope they will improve: -
There are currently no Dinosaur sounds.  Apparently they are working on it.  That will be great.  And maybe some atmosphere / theme music inside the larger display buildings.
A few more types of Dinosaur would be good.  It might not need many more (although you can never have enough Dino's) , but no Triceratops yet!
Signage.  This could be quite educational.  Some signs are sharp and readable, while others are unsharp and difficult to read.  Needs some consistency.
A map would be good - without giving away the Easter eggs of course!

In general, it is really enjoyable, and would have to give it 10 out of 10 if the issues I mentioned above were attended to.
The grass LOD / pop-up is the worst issue for me.  Because the rest of the package is so good, I think the grass LOD spoils it a bit.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

that's a base sim issue, would be up to Asobo to fix.

I don't know really. Although is does happen in the base sim, I don't really notice it anywhere near as much.  In this Jurassic Park pack, it seems a lot worse.  Maybe they are using custom vegitation with separate LODs or something.

Make sure to remove Bijan’s Season pack if you’re using it. It turns the ground into a flat green blob for this scenery.

Would they be from the Jurassic World games by Frontier Developments by any chance?

I bought it because I feel this sort of thing points to what can be done in this sim and wish to see lots more of it:  bird strikes, trains, much more fauna and in general a much more alive world.  Don't need many more planes nor airports but would love lots more evidence of Life and activity on the ground.  This is wide open, no need to understand aviation to do it, a near tabula rasa.

All content is original from Orbx - all models, animations, buildings and so on. All human made material!

Ah, the maps! We actually have a number of them done, but we are working wih NBCUniversal to get them approved for release publicly.

We love maps - and we know a lot of you out there do too.... This is high priority together with adding sounds. Ambient sounds coming soon.
