August 6, 2025Aug 6 Hey all I've been puzzled by my sim performing really badly for a week or so now, (I was on the beta for SU 16 and now the release candidate) I've for years been locked to 30FPS, FG 2x, and have had smooth frames in 2020 all the time. Now I get that on departure, but I'm down to about 19FPS and heavy stuttering on landing, every time. It's really frustrating me, and I cannot pin down what is going on. Starting from about 5,000 feet AGL and descending through clouds, right to touchdown and taxi, absolute slideshow. I have an i7 Asus gaming laptop with a 3080. I'm using the latest PMDG 737-700 and apart from that have an empty community folder. I use the DLOD program with LODs from 80 to 140. This has always been buttery smooth until about a week ago. I am using the latest DLSS from the swapper and Nvidia drivers. I have no cache set up, and a very good fibre internet connection. I've been testing with fairly small default airports, (Brest and Birmingham) I've even done a full Windows reinstall and Sim reinstall, and thought I'd reach out here. I'm at the end of my tether and pretty much thinking of packing the hobby in for a while. It still behaves exactly the same. Buttery smooth 30FPS on departure, and stutterfest on descent and arrival. I'd get a new laptop if I absolutely have to, but I'm confused that I've had such fantastic performance for so many years. What gremlins could possibly get past a windows and sim reinstall? I've virus scanned, the works. Any ideas guys? Edited August 6, 2025Aug 6 by Langeveldt
August 6, 2025Aug 6 Author On typing this message, a thought came into my head. That I didnt see the Frame Gen option internally in the sim for a while, and that I hadnt been getting the ghosting on the globe menu screen. On a little further research it turns out that updating the NVIDIA app has borked my internal frame gen! Deleting the Nvidia app has brought it back to me. I'm not quite sure how I'm going to download the latest drivers now, but let's see. I use a combination of the internal frame gen hack, and lossless. I've loaded at ASOBO CDG, always the FPS killer of note, and I'm back to a solid 30FPS native. Let's see if it maintains. I was trying to do a carbon copy of my settings that brought my so much joy for a couple of years. A cautionary story for anyone still trying to get performance out of four year old laptops. Let's see how it runs for an hour or so. Edited August 6, 2025Aug 6 by Langeveldt

August 6, 2025Aug 6 2024 allows turning on Dynamic Settings that fixes stutters for my 3060ti gpu in big airports Turn it off when not needed. dd
August 7, 2025Aug 7 Maybe you guys can try this: Remove Ground Services in all Airports for Microsoft Flight Simulator | MSFS Comment from a user: You single handed managed to achieve what Asobo has failed to fix for the past 5 years. To completely remove the before landing/touchdown stutters! For this , enjoy your coffee! Edit: Added a comment from a user Edited August 7, 2025Aug 7 by deepstar
August 13, 2025Aug 13 Experiencing this with a brand new build. Trying everything at the moment and it seems bumping things from Ultra to High mau have helped but until i do another full flight I wont know. I thought it was AI but ruled that out. I seem to remember '24 had this at one point and now it seems they've replicated it in 2020... Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

August 13, 2025Aug 13 I had the app installed for ages, as long as you don't let it optimize anything and don't use DX11 it shouldn't cause any issues... I had to uninstall it only because when I moved systems MSFS reset to DX11 which will crash if you have the Nvidia app installed. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

Still going to try and see. Its a pain cause you only find out art the end of the flight. Makes it impossible to land. I am on 2024 and it was great for a long time. Then BOOM. August 13, 2025Aug 13 Author I've gotten rid of the app entirely and am now just using an old driver. If it ain't broke and all that.
August 13, 2025Aug 13 AutoFPS solved that problem for me in MSFS2000, though I've found the internal dynamic settings to be the smoothest option in MSFS2024. Dynamic Settings is turning out to be the ticket in 2024 and I only run with it on as my settings are not as good. I also suspect AI is being used to drive it because it works so well now.
