You guys have NO IDEA what you are in for!!!! PMDG MD11 + FS2Crew = outrageous...

Recommended Posts

Guys,I have had the privilege and the honor to Beta Test the PMDG MD11 in conjunction with FS2Crew for the MD11. While I will not be around until later to answer questions (running out for a quick spinal operation) I can tell you that what you are about to have in your hands is unreal!!!The PMDG MD-11 is the ONLY reason I am flying FSX right now. PMDG has created a masterpiece thats performance is mind blowing considering the complexity of what they produced. Both the AC itself and the entire PMDG team have opened my eyes and I will NEVER EVER look at another MD-11 the same again! She is such a wonderful technical marvel and PMDG and the team have done a job unlike anything I have seen before in the FS world from all perspectives INCLUDING performance :)NOW Combine that with what you guys will get from Bryan and the FS2Crew team and it is going to be like Christmas, Chanukah or Qwanza morning for everyone. Bryan and the team at FS2Crew are going to BLOW you away with the latest release and the integration they had with the PMDG team throughout the Beta process... This is by far the cleanest and most integrated version of FS2Crew I have been lucky enough to test. For me with my limited MD-11 knowledge this has also bee the most useful version yet to me personally LOL. I am actually finishing the tutorial flight right now before I head out to the hospital LOL and I am just blown away by how "natural" the two products play together. This is awesome, I am like a little 34 year old kid right now and I never thought I would be smiling from ear to ear waiting for my ride to the hospital!!! Guys, this isn't an advertisement, I am not telling you to run out and buy anything I am just telling you that we are lucky as can be to have teams like PMDG and FS2Crew who continue to deliver bar raising add-ons for FS. I WISH WISH WISH I had the rest of the day to play with both these add-ons but while you guys are (hopefully) enjoying I will be under anesthesia so give a little wing dip to me on takeoff and ENJOY!!!Congrats to PMDG and FS2Crew on years and years of hard work that finally came to fruition in an unbelievable way!!!!Nothing left to say but enjoy everyone!!!!Congrats again guys and thank you for letting me such a small piece of such amazing projects!-PaulPrimary RigLiquid CooledIntel C2D E8500 468X9.5 @ 4.45Asus Maximus Extreme4 gigs OCZ Reaper DDR3 @1400Dual OC'd XFX 8800GTX @ 2 gigsDual VelociRaptor 10k 3gb/s RAID-0Dual WD Caviar 500 gig Raid-0Single 150Gig SATA2 Swap Drive28 inch LCD 16XAA/16XAFDual 19 inch LCD'sPCPower and Cooling 1k Quad SLISaitek Yoke, Saitek Rudders, Go-Flight Flap,Gear and Trim Controlhttp://home.comcast.net/~psolk/3monitorsa.htmlBackup RigsIntel E6600 @ 3.2Asus P5N32E-SLI Plus3 Gigs Kingston Hyper XXFX 8600 GTAMD 4000 San Diego @ 2.72 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2XFX 7900 GTX Raid-0psolk.jpg

>> Sounds good but which machine did you beta test on? Don't>know to many folks running at 4.45 Ghz.>>CraigI agree. 4.45 Ghz is way beyond most simmers. I'm going to wait and hear from simmers with medium systems such as my own. I look forward to the release as well, but with a bit of skepticism concerning performance. Bob..

4.45 Ghz, Crickey!Im running stock Q6600 at 2.66 so I wonder how it will perform?I don't mind turning off autogen and AI so long as I get 25fps in the VC, which is what I get in the LDS 767 VC with that eye candy off.

Hey guys,Totally valid questions. I should have been more thorough with the original post but was trying to run out to the hospital. 6 hours later and I am already home drooling on myself but I am unable to sit anymore:( I tested on all of the rigs below and obviously mileage varied. The 4.5 just ate everything up. I wasn't using any add-on scenery yet because I installed FSX just for the beta program, I am an FSniner @ heart. The 3.2 still locked 40fps when in the air and 24-30 FPS on the ground (AI sliders modified from the 4.5) but still gave an amazing sensation of flight and the lowly 4000 held her own, it was more Vista w/ 1gig of RAM that limited me on that box after my 2nd gig pooped out. I would say from my own personal experience that the MD-11 is much less resource intensive than the 744. To set the right expectation it is still extremely cpu/memory dependant but for what seems like more features and functionality the performance appears to have improved from my perspective.Enjoy!!!-PaulPrimary RigLiquid CooledIntel C2D E8500 468X9.5 @ 4.45Asus Maximus Extreme4 gigs OCZ Reaper DDR3 @1400Dual OC'd XFX 8800GTX @ 2 gigsDual VelociRaptor 10k 3gb/s RAID-0Dual WD Caviar 500 gig Raid-0Single 150Gig SATA2 Swap Drive28 inch LCD 16XAA/16XAFDual 19 inch LCD'sPCPower and Cooling 1k Quad SLISaitek Yoke, Saitek Rudders, Go-Flight Flap,Gear and Trim Controlhttp://home.comcast.net/~psolk/3monitorsa.htmlBackup RigsIntel E6600 @ 3.2Asus P5N32E-SLI Plus3 Gigs Kingston Hyper XXFX 8600 GTAMD 4000 San Diego @ 2.72 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2XFX 7900 GTX Raid-0psolk.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/193236.jpg

In fact, they were so good that I did not even think about them lol.Yes on the customizable keyboard commands as well. And just wait until you see the cockpit lighting in this beauty, it will really blow you away. It was like nothing I have ever seen before.Hope that helps,-PaulPrimary RigLiquid CooledIntel C2D E8500 468X9.5 @ 4.45Asus Maximus Extreme4 gigs OCZ Reaper DDR3 @1400Dual OC'd XFX 8800GTX @ 2 gigsDual VelociRaptor 10k 3gb/s RAID-0Dual WD Caviar 500 gig Raid-0Single 150Gig SATA2 Swap Drive28 inch LCD 16XAA/16XAFDual 19 inch LCD'sPCPower and Cooling 1k Quad SLISaitek Yoke, Saitek Rudders, Go-Flight Flap,Gear and Trim Controlhttp://home.comcast.net/~psolk/3monitorsa.htmlBackup RigsIntel E6600 @ 3.2Asus P5N32E-SLI Plus3 Gigs Kingston Hyper XXFX 8600 GTAMD 4000 San Diego @ 2.72 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2XFX 7900 GTX Raid-0psolk.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/193237.jpg

Get ready guys... For those multi-monitor guys like myself you are going to love how you can now take FS2Crew in just 2 windows and move it to a second or third monitor and leave it open as a control center. Bryan did an awesome job making FS2Crew feel like part of the MD...This is the most exciting thing to hit FS in a long long time I just wish I was writing this as I was flying instead of laying on my back in bed :( -PPrimary RigLiquid CooledIntel C2D E8500 468X9.5 @ 4.45Asus Maximus Extreme4 gigs OCZ Reaper DDR3 @1400Dual OC'd XFX 8800GTX @ 2 gigsDual VelociRaptor 10k 3gb/s RAID-0Dual WD Caviar 500 gig Raid-0Single 150Gig SATA2 Swap Drive28 inch LCD 16XAA/16XAFDual 19 inch LCD'sPCPower and Cooling 1k Quad SLISaitek Yoke, Saitek Rudders, Go-Flight Flap,Gear and Trim Controlhttp://home.comcast.net/~psolk/3monitorsa.htmlBackup RigsIntel E6600 @ 3.2Asus P5N32E-SLI Plus3 Gigs Kingston Hyper XXFX 8600 GTAMD 4000 San Diego @ 2.72 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2XFX 7900 GTX Raid-0psolk.jpg

Guys,I am running an ancient AMD XP2600+ with Radeon X800XT and 2GB of old and slow memory. With FSX sliders turned to low, low-mid settings, traffic turned OFF, I get about 25-30 FPS solid no matter where I fly.No need to worry about performance with the MD-11.It's a magnificient piece of work, and you all should consider yourself lucky to get your hands on it :).Tero(yes, I am also in the beta, in case anyone wonders)

Here's PMDG's MD11 v 744. This is Q6600@3.6/4G-Ram@800Mhz/9800GTX+/42" monitor at 19x10 in windowed mode. Two other 19" monitors are running with other FSX windows (CDU's, etc) and email clients, flightaware web pages, etc. All FSX scenery tab sliders are at 100% except water at 2xLow and ground shadows off. The Traffic tab is All Off. Bloom off and clouds at 60 miles. This is an LAX approach starting at ~ 5000ft, through rollout. UTX/GEX/FSG scenerys. From the Vcockpit, fully coupled approach/autoland with both. The MD has a small FPS advantage, but this chart does not tell the visual story. As we've recognized, FPS does Not tell the whole story. The 744 stutters noticeably. The MD runs smoothly. FS connoisseurs we know would have a field day nit-picking it to shreds, but the feel is Smooth. I took it down on the deck like a P51 and the little houses were just zooming by, smoothly. No Stutters. At all. In other words, my default airplane settings almost work. It looks like working with the AG slider will be all that is necessary (remember, No Traffic).I'm not a programmer, but something very different (Vs the 744) is going on with this MD11 code. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/193241.jpg
