MSFS  Forum posts from just last week. Same topic. Same symptoms.  No clear resolution but NVIDIA is central to discussion.

Also Steam community from the same time.  You’re not alone and doing a “repair” probably won’t help. (Whoops, Steam post from 2021, same month and dates. Perhaps its an annual  thing? LoL)

  • YES YES YES!!! 😃👍👍👍😃 FINALLY I got the sim to run again!!! When i rolled back to version 566.36 for the third time IT WORKED!!! Dont ask me how and why, but i got the sim running now!!! Fingers crosse

  • I’d uninstall in NVDA app if you use it.  A few months back this happened to me and it solved the issue immediately.  Sim has flown flawlessly since.

  • So you deleted current driver with DDU and installed 566.36 with no success?  If so a complete reinstall is in your future I suspect.  If not you’re missing a critical troubleshooting step IMO.  Good

Its sooo strange since it worked perfectly yesterday evening. And this morning. Boom! Its impossible to launch msfs2020.

In my 74 years on this pitiful rock, I have come to understand a concept that explains this and many other occurrences:

Things work until they don't.

Think about it. It eliminates a lot of frustration in life...

Doubtful this will but worth a try perhaps:  Rt-click the 2020 start icon, choose App settings, under Reset, choose Repair.

This trick works when essentially nothing happens when you hit the 2020 start icon, but who knows maybe it will play a role in your issue.

I have a small update regarding this frustating issue... I deleted the NGX file in the NVIDA file, and now i can start the sim in safe mode, but not in normal mode... Any ideas why? Im getting crazy about this...😥

Back to disaster... Only worked once, since NVIDA creates a new NGX file...

Dont know what to do? Is the only solution to reinstall the whole sim from scratch? And what about if that does not help either? I cant for the world figure out what could have happened during the night... Perfect yesterday, today only crasch! 😥😭

Have you done a full uninstall of the GPU driver, and all elements of its installation, then a full new clean install?

A repair worked for me when this happened a couple of years ago and I didn't lose any of my addons.  Always worth making sure your windows is up to date and reinstalling your audio and video drivers.

I am assuming that your internet connection is all working properly.

I concur with Noel. Since NVIDIA drivers seem central to the problem here is a proposed solution.  DDU for a clean and complete uninstall of current drivers and replaced with one of the KNOWN and stable driver sets out there, 566.36

DDU

Nvidia 566.36

Good luck and Blue Skies,

BTW  I just went through this whole exercise yesterday when I foolishly upgraded to the latest Game Ready driver of Aug 11.  Total disappointment as it almost immediately failed with the “device failed” error message and full app stop that has plagued NVIDIA drivers as of late.  I am well pleased with the 566.36 set now.

Just try the repair option, it usually does nothing to your settings or sim files. i have done this numerous times, different story when you click reset

Nothing helps... I am totalt lost! This is unbelievable! Cant for the world understand this...😥 This is beyond me. Totally beyond.

Have you tried simply renaming your community folder to Commuity_bak and creating an empty Community Folder to see if it is an add-on?
