August 21, 2025Aug 21 I get it occasionally. I suspect it is due to getting close to some sort of limit (VRAM etc.) rather than a sound issue in itself, but the bottom line is I don't really know, and I am not sure anyone else knows definitively. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. August 21, 2025Aug 21 Wow, didn't even know this was a thing. Fired up 2024 for the first time in a month, drone cam around photogrammetry NYC and was impressed with the performance. 20 minutes in and I get the 80 Grit sandpaper sound effect. What a shame.
August 21, 2025Aug 21 What’s the point of comments like “Never had this” or “Never heard of this issue”? This is a valid and fairly widespread issue in 2024. Nearly everyone I know experiences this problem, and it’s incredibly annoying and frustrating; especially when using a headset.
August 21, 2025Aug 21 First time i had this in MSFS like described. Different sound issues in prior versions. Annoying and so far SU3 a degrade for me Michael Moe Edited August 21, 2025Aug 21 by Michael Moe Michael Moe
August 21, 2025Aug 21 If it is the sound issue I was experiencing, disabling Nvidia's audio drivers has resolved it on my end. Though, this is not a solution if you are utilizing your GPU for audio. I run my monitor/TV speakers for normal daily usage but when I play games I run a dedicated sound setup. For me, even if I was using the alternate audio output, I still get this issue if I don't disable the Nvidia driver. Worth a shot for anyone to try. Hopefully others see the same results. 9800X3D | 5090 | 64GB DDR5 | LG C2 42"

That could explain why I've never heard this sound then as I never install the nVidia HD Audio Drivers, wearing headphones I'd know if I heard a sound like described so I concur with you - those who suffer perhaps check your GPU driver install. August 22, 2025Aug 22 I have it with default C172, did not notice it with 3rd party airplanes, it sounds like open mic (static) or AM radio static, tried all sound volume controls one by one and none of them had any effect on it. maybe they will find a solution for it some day, it is annoying but not a deal breaker.
