New FS Version: any official word yet?

Recommended Posts

...hi folks, I've been away from the scene quite awhile now (about 2 years) and was curious to know if there has been any news about FS11 as of yet?....it's been 2 years so I thought if MS was sticking to the same development cycle that perhaps there might be some word by now as to what theyre planning as far as features, estimated time frame for release...or any concrete official news at all.Thank you!Dave

Mostly what I have heard is that there's no way the next FS will come out until the new Train Simulator 2 has been around for a while.Jeff ShylukAssistant Managing EditorSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM

This was recently posted by Phil Taylor on the probable FS11 release date. >after Trains2, which is holiday 2009. >we are not able to release 2 game titles the same year. >which should be broad enough a hint as to the likely timeframe.>http://blogs.msdn.com/ptaylor>Lead PM, Core Platform>Aces Studio, MGS

I remember those details being said by PhilTaylor but I didnt realize that the team cannot release two game titles in one year. That makes no sense to me at all...Especially from a financial point.

Maybe the ACES studio doesn't have enough resources to finalize, test, duplicate, distribute, support, and "patch" two major releases in rapid succession?

Among other things I imagine they don't want to fork the code. Both TS and FS use ESP as the core. Once there is a code freeze on ESP for anything required in TS, then they can use that ESP baseline for starting work on FSnext.scott s..
