Move Eyepoint with Joystick

Recommended Posts

Guest TheFish

Hi!First the background why I ask (skip this part if you're not interested ;))I try to build my own "head tracker". I'm using GlovePie, a Wiimote and a baseball cap with 3 IR-LEDs. This setup is quite similar to the known "TrackIR". The problem is that my GlovePie script to emulate TrackIR woks fine in every game except Flight Simulator X! The virtual TrackIR-device is not recognized. I tried a lot of things to get it work (the internet is full of hints), but I had no success. So I gave up and want try another approach:I no longer map the head movement to a virtual TrackIR but rather to a virtual joystick. This joystick works fine in FSX. In the controls menu under "control axis" it is possible to assign a joystick axis to view up/down (=pitch), left/right (=yaw) and tilt (=roll). But there is no possibility to assign a joystick axis to the eyepoint movement. However, without support for X,Y,Z movement in the virtual cockpit, my selfmade-TrackIR wouldn't be much better than simple mouselook. So my question is:Is there any way to assign a joystick axis to move the eyepoint forward/backward, left/right, up/down? Perhaps with 3rd party tools like FSUIPC? I have no experience in modules for MS Flight Simulator. Thanks in advance,TillPS: perhaps this is a hadware-question... I was unsure where to post my request :(
