What is still lacking for you in FS2024 since SU3?

That could be beneficial in A Pilot's Life v2. Will have to check that out and see if I'm still penalized for going into "warp drive."

Getting rid of the GPU Resource pop up is the main thing for me. I imagine I'd be getting it in 2020 with an 8gb card. But I'd like it to just go away.

I may be missing the point here, but wouldn't that be necessary in order to stay in sync with the METAR-based weather? In other words, we don't know what the weather will be in the future. I guess the sim could just keep track of two timelines, but that opens the door for other programming glitches.

True in 2020, but I understand 2024 keeps 24-hour historical WX data, which may help a bit.

This was fixed with SU3...

My main gripe right now is performance but I ordered a better GPU so that might not be an issue anymore.

Aside from that, they really need to work on weather depiction. While it is a lot better than it was in 2020, transparent clouds are still a menace that can take me out of the immersion. SU3 helped distant clouds look better but there definitely still room for improvement.

Seb mentioned a plan to rewrite the weather algorithm but I hope we don't have to wait for MSFS 2028

Thanks, AnkH! I never tried higher simrates since I found that issue once. I stand corrected.

My biggest issue is now that they simply ignore the fact that the snow coverage is still bugged in many parts of the world when using live weather.

And of course all AI traffic and ATC related stuff, especially their AI engine is still miles away from what we had in FSX and an absolute joke. Add the so-called "live ship traffic" to the list since SU2. Half-baked nonsense and not understandable why they even put hurdles in front of the 3rd party devs by constantly altering something in every update making the workarounds of the 3rd party devs ineffective without actually improving anything /rant off

A keybind for 'dev mod pause,' where it actually freezes the airplane (e.g., the gear stops moving if it’s in transit). For the life of me, I cannot get it to work in FS2024, whereas it worked flawlessly in FS2020.

I believe that is correct, but how does that help with the future weather? If I include the clock when I turn time compression on, the clock speeds up too, and we move into the future. I guess we could set the clock back by some amount at the start of the flight and let time compression move us closer to the present by its end. Do we know whether or not that might work? Of course, that negates our ability to use external tools for weather briefings, etc., which I find to be a nice touch, and further complicates issues with real-time AI and the like.

One of those tradeoffs, I guess....

EDIT I missed the comment made by @Ankh above concerning SU3. Something new to play with.

If you have a registered version of FSUIPC7, you can bind a key to "Toggle Pause". However, I understand, we shouldn't need these workarounds...

Performance; which is still atrocious with single digit FPS on landing no matter the airport size (no mods in use). DX12 still not good enough, needs more work, VRAM issues still persist.

VR; incredible ignorance to release SU3 with a major issue relating to the LOD curve, needs a hot fix let alone a long wait until SU4.

LODs; generally still poor, was hoping they'd be better in SU3 but nope. The visual difference of ground details when gaining height is an obvious issue for one that needs rectifying.

I always wonder how the arrival of various workarounds impacts development workflow.  Here's an obvious example:  we have multiple AI traffic and ATC solutions.  This isn't lost on MS/A and I have to guess it does at some level influence what MS/A decides they need to prioritize work on.

Just the abject lack of performance compared to 2020.

Not willing to upgrade my machine unless it's a big step forward in gameplay and scenery, and it isn't.

Can't imagine what's wrong w/ your configuration since we have people with lesser hardware describing a vastly superior experience than what you just did.

DX12:  how the heck do you know what's 'good enough' and what isn't w/ regard to DX12?

VRAM issues:  what are you referring to exactly?
