5 Reasons Why MSFS Did Not Kill X-Plane 12

Amazing screenshots!

are you using any particular mods to get it looking that good? I don't feel like XP12 looks as good as that on my system

I use Google Map Enhancement Pro version + Siemheaven all the world. I  am in 4K and use also ShadeX, which is no longer commercially available. It's like Nvidia Filter for FS. The only option compatible with Nvidia Filter with XP is RTX Dynamic Vibrance but the lighting and weather of XP12 are just incredible.

Another Exemple

  • Until MSFS has Jorg on a billboard at Dubai in an Emirates cabin crew uniform I don't see how it can possibly compete with X-Plane.

  • I hope XP does not go the photogrammetry/ortho route.  They could do so much better with their “plausible world” approach, and I think that’s the trajectory they are taking.  We can already see a glim

  • Both are different simulators, one is geared more towards gamers and casual users, the other is for the more hardcore user who likes to tinker with everything. This has almost always been the case, an

This weather is absolute default-weather. It's such a joy to fly through it. Nice shots by the way @filou

So in a way this is the same effect as "why do small countries rarely have good soccer teams?". They have a smaller pool of potential players and since the audience (= potential to earn money with playing soccer) is smaller, there is less incentive to pursue the career.

On the other hand, they have more fun doing it and if they do win an important one, the entire country will be drunk for days on end.

oh boy, another my sim vs your sim...boring.

I've been an avid XP customer since v9, but until Laminar decides to improve scenery, which by the way is sooo boring (green all over the world), starts taking advantage of multithreading,  I won't bother buying it.

If you’re going to make a claim, back it up. It’s obvious you don’t have X-Plane 12, because the rain system has been completely reworked.

Im not talking about the windshield rain effects (and yes i know its toto that made librain), im talking about the visual rain and lightning thats from x-plane 8 or 9, cant remember. And yes, i have X-Plane 12.

So you tuned the lighting and atmosphere colors in the sim? thats not default, cant compare tuned colors with other default colors.

Come on, Carlos. ‘Yawn’?  You’re better than that.

but until Laminar decides to improve scenery,

Use one of the tools available to stream satellite scenery like MSFS does until the next scenery upgrade is released.

Yea you're talking about the "starfield" effect. It's not perfect in Xplane, but it's also not as fake as you might think.

Ignore the music, but here's a clip showing it in real life when the landing lights are on and you're travelling through rain.

Yes, I have seen this many times when flying (my job has me flying through weather that most GA pilots don´t see) - it is even stronger and more mesmerizing when there is snow, but you can see it very well with the landing lights on.

It always makes me chuckle (but I have stopped setting things right after like the 10th time) when people complain about the "Star Wars effect" 😆
