  • I've updated four of my liveries 🙂 https://flightsim.to/profile/TimHH

  • Such incredible addons... so nice to have both Dukes back in 2024!  With GTNxi bezels and headphone simulation - icing on the cake!

  • Finally had a chance to fly the Grand Duke today to try out the new update.  Nice to have a few niggles cleaned up, like the oil viscosity in the left engine mirroring the right which messed up pre-oi

The cheque is in the post. 😀👍

The Duke 1.2 updates are up on Contrail now, for those that purchased there.

Proper headphone simulation at last!

Do we need to do something in order to activate it ? If so what ? How do I know if I have version 1.2 ? I purchased it on the MSFS Marketplace

Click on  the headphone jacks on the left side of the cockpit below the window.

I have tried that and it does not work. The mousecursor is not changed to a hand and nothing happens when clicking the jack

OK, I don't think the update will have made it to the Marketplace yet then. It only came out on Just Flight on Monday.

Finally had a chance to fly the Grand Duke today to try out the new update.  Nice to have a few niggles cleaned up, like the oil viscosity in the left engine mirroring the right which messed up pre-oiling in the engine start sequence, the new GTN bezels look great and the change for the TDS 650 fixed an issue so all good there.  And the headphone feature.  Did NOT think I was going to like that, as the engine/prop sounds on the Grand Duke are sooo sweet, but I actually do.  What makes this work for me is that the feature allows setting the amount of noise attenuation my "headphones" are giving me.  Using that, I can still enjoy the engine sounds but at a slightly reduced level chosen by me rather than having to live with an arbitrary level, while keeping the radio volumes constant.  VERY nice!

All in all, a great plane just got even better!  This is one of the few planes around that properly simulates how turbocharged piston airplanes really work, including correct mixture operation.  As a former turbocharged piston owner/pilot, this is hugely appreciated.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.  This plane is an absolute gem!  The fact that the developer cares and offers substantive updates like this is the icing on the cake for me.  Don't have this one?  Get it!

There can't be anyone who doesn't yet own the Dukes haha!

I love the Aerostar too but the Dukes are basically as good imo.  And the grand duke is faster.  I still can't decide if I prefer the piston or turbine.  Both are a blast!

I have really fallen in love with these all over again. Such a joy to fly.

Until this fine update, it'd been so long since I'd flown the Piston Duke that I confess I did a ahem....flight*  this evening and just couldn't start the engines 😊   I was also looking every where for an 'autostart' option - thought I remembered one - but there is none. Not in this quality of simulation!

*there was no flying involved.

Watched a YT video, remembered what I was doing incorrectly and was up and screaming into the sky, 30 mins later 😎

I'm so happy with the headphone simulation.  I love the engine sounds but they are soooo loud, and hearing them at that level throughout the flight is not realistic.

I've updated all of my liveries now - please note this was a pain in the rear.... probably took a good 8-10 hours to update all of them.

Oh, and in 2024 don't select the Dynamic Registration version yet... it's quite broken.  SU4 is apparently going to fix it.  If you just select the tail number variant make sure the EFB tablet has the option to show mesh UNTICKED.

One more thing.  If you could leave a review of the paints, and even click the little heart icon on the right, that helps.  I've got almost 150,000 downloads over the last 5 years from my addons.  That's pretty cool since they're almost all general aviation related.  The airliner livery guys - some of them have over a million downloads.  Unfortunately that just shows the popularity in airliners VS GA.  I will always remain a GA guy.

Thank you for your support!

I meant to ask you... what's the procedure for flight into the teens in this thing?  I think the power settings in my pic are too high (I wanted to go fast).  What would be more suitable for 75% power?  Like 30 / 2700pm?  And then with the turbochargers do you still lean out at 17,500 to the 75% power range on the fuel flow gauge?
