In every other TC'ed sim plane I've flown in FSX/P3D or MSFS, you have to aggressively lean to maintain power in the climb as if they were normally aspirated.  This is egregiously incorrect.

Hmm, let me ask you why?

Looks like the Baron has just been updated to 0.1.1 but not the Bonanza yet.

Baron - v1.1 - Togglable Winglets & Early Bug Fixes

New Features:

In v1.0, winglets were togglable via the tablet interface, but this was only a visual change.  Now, all the relevant systems (including exterior light placement) should accompany the visual change.  Keep in mind that aerodynamic changes cannot be made on the fly, so there will be slight inaccuracies when this toggle is selected, like the empty weight of the aircraft, or the drag not reflecting these changes.

In MSFS 2024, it is now possible to step up and walk along the right wing to access the cockpit door.

Setting L:BKSQ_IgnitionPosition_1 (or _2) to a value of 5 will now engage the starter without its spring returning to the magneto both position.  Also fixed a particular event used to trigger the starter, which may prevent conflicts with some hardware bindings.

Added accurate trim tab movement, particularly noticeable on walkarounds.

Bug Fixes:

Fixed some tablet options that were not saving state between flights.

Pressurization controller inner (maximum altitude) scale corrected, and differential pressure annunciator trigger value reduced, both to match POH values.

Implemented an exceptionally time consuming workaround for MSFS 2024’s windshield surface normal rendering that caused the pilot’s storm window to appear open from certain viewing angles.

Fixed exterior aileron and elevator stop sounds, which previously played partway through the throw of the surface.

Changed material properties of window warning decals, which previously appeared behind terrain objects and other decals.

Slightly adjusted landing gear compression constants so aircraft sits more nose high when unloaded.

Decreased oil temperature time constant for slower heating and cooling to match Dukes.

Fixed slightly misaligned wingtip textures on N972HJ, and C-GVGI.

Removed magneto impulse couplings from right magneto on reciprocating engine visualizer.

Removed mentions of tip-tank management from the manual checklists.  The in-game checklists did not have these erroneous entries.

An off-by-one error in the tablet interface would produce the wrong names for failures of some avionics equipment.

OK, Bonanza also now updated -

Bonanza - v1.1 - Togglable Winglets/Tip-Tanks/Radar & Early Bug Fixes

New Features:

  • In v1.0, winglets and tip-tanks were togglable via the tablet interface, but this was only a visual change.
  • When the “Hide Radar Pod” toggle is activated on the tablet interface, the radar display unit in the cockpit will also be hidden, and the avionics will rearrange to fill the space.  Electrical systems and circuit breakers will also conform to this change.
  • In MSFS 2024, it is now possible to step up and walk along the right wing to access the cockpit door.
  • Setting L:BKSQ_IgnitionPosition_1 to a value of 5 will now engage the starter without its spring returning to the magneto both position.  Also fixed a particular event used to trigger the starter, which may prevent conflicts with some hardware bindings.
  • Added accurate trim tab movement, particularly noticeable on walkarounds.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed some tablet options that were not saving state between flights.
  • The reciprocating engine compression sinusoid was 30° counterclockwise from the true top dead center.
  • Implemented an exceptionally time consuming workaround for MSFS 2024’s windshield surface normal rendering that caused the pilot’s storm window to appear open from certain viewing angles.
  • Previously, the propeller would not spring-return to its fully coarse position in the event of a complete loss of oil pressure, such as during an engine failure.
  • Fixed constant that decreased the engine spool down time in the Turbine Bonanza.
  • Removed automatic starter cutoff at ~45% Ng.
  • Decreased oil temperature time constant for slower heating and cooling to match Dukes.
  • The dynamic registration was not displayed for only N924SV, due to the maximum URI length for MSFS 2024 apparently being reduced by a few characters from MSFS 2020.
  • Removed magneto impulse couplings from right magneto on reciprocating engine visualizer.
  • Fixed exterior aileron and elevator stop sounds, which previously played partway through the throw of the surface.
  • Changed material properties of window warning decals, which previously appeared behind terrain objects and other decals.
  • Slightly adjusted landing gear compression constants so aircraft sits more nose high when unloaded.
  • The strobe charge/discharge sound may not have worked in v1.0 in the reciprocating variants of this aircraft under some circumstances.

Because a turbocharged engine maintains the same manifold pressure up to the critical altitude. If manifold pressure does not change, the mixture does not need to be leaned.

I misread tttcos wrote. He referred to turbo charge not normally aspirated, I got it in reverse (my bad)

I used to do check outs on turbo charged Arrows. None of them survived average renter abuse.  I used to considered buying one and I'm glad I didn't.

I finally received the full version hehe.

This is an awesome update from Nick.

It really changed the look of some my silver liveries, which is a huge help.  Previously the rivets weren't taking the metallic from our paints so some of mine looked really dorky.

I've also made a slight change to my N7471N livery - to the red hue which I think represents the real paint much better

(only the first two pics reflect the new change)

My entire post was about power and leaning in the turbo-charged Bonanza and how Black Square does mixture control in a turbo-charged piston better than anyone else in MSFS, so I can see how you got confused.

None of them.  Wow.  Good that you steered clear then.

And yet... my plane flew reliably for the entire time I owned it, and still flies out of Colorado where I was based.  That's (checks math) about 35 years of operation between us.  I wonder what I, and the current owners, might know that you and the renters you checked out didn't.  I can't imagine.  🙂

Now, what this comment has to do with the Blacksquare Professional Baron or Bonanza, I've no clue.

Scott

Just finished flying the updated TC Baron from San Jose (KRHV) to San Diego (KMYF).  Everything seemed great - but then I hadn't had any serious issues previously - except...  My passengers and I got a bit chilly on the flight as my heater no longer seems to function.  Checked failures and nothing was reported as broken, so not sure what's going on there.

And if ever there was a problem that wasn't a big deal at all, this would be that problem!

it's just like rental anything -- it's not theirs, so why baby it?   lean of peak all over that I bet

I saw someone on another forum saying Black Square quality is now beyond A2A.

You're typically renting "wet", i.e. fuel included, so why bother leaning at all?

I think it's more a case of "all the levers full forward all the time"...

Disagree.

I agree, Black Square is certainly in the ballpark in many aspects but for me not quite there. A2A's flight model is really excellent and its simulation of individual components and maintenance/repair functionality still a step ahead. That said, I have been flying the Baron all over this past week and really enjoying it, an excellent simulation.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

I have worked all day on this paint for the Baron (funny story is that I normally work ATC today, but I must have selected some PTO last year for today, thus I had today off...so I made this paint instead of being at work - it's a full time job I swear!)....  it's very time consuming to make three variants, then make dynamic registration for those variants (TimHH usually does that for me since it's easier in 2020, and that's his time spent), and then the 2020 variants, and make the interior nice and custom...

I think after these planes I'll be done with 2020 paints.  It's way too much work.  Everyone flying GA should really be on 2024 by now as it's vastly superior for that style of flying.

At any rate, this is one of my favorite paints I've done so far (and yes, it's blue LOL).  I'm just waiting for Tim to check it out when he has time it and then hopefully I can upload it sometime this weekend.
