Huge stutters on landing or take off would seem to be a rather important issue to fix??

Well according to Seb in the recent Q&A he's already worked on it, so your guess is as good as mine if he revisits or continues to work in this area.

And before the usual "1tS yUr CiSteM" crowd turn up, no it's not. As detailed in the other beta thread I stand still on the runway with decent FPS, as soon as I begin to roll it drops significantly, I stop and the FPS returns to normal. I then begin to creep forwards again and the FPS drops, so I go full throttle and climb (whilst stuttering madly) and lo & behold the FPS almost immediately shoots straight back up again when I'm off the ground.

That's not a user system issue, it could be driver related (somehow) but the fact Seb knows and has worked on it then it highly suggests it's a game problem as others are and have been suffering from this issue as well.

  • The sim isn't perfect but gosh it's getting really good. Looks brilliant, performs superbly and a whole stack of great addons working in 24.

  • SU4 Beta is a winner

  • We are definetley heading in the right direction. The clouds, the performance the feel is amazing in these last two builds.

Thank you, Vincent!

That's a surprise.

I always thought that DLSS v3.10.4 was better!

In fact, I always replace the DLSS files with the newest version, but this time...

Wait and see.

Same here except this time. Don't take my question/remark as granted. It's a real question and other feedback are welcome.

I really experienced the studders and slide show when landing at airports with FS2020. Then it was fixed with one of the later SU's. Lately I have not experienced this in 2024. I recently flew the Pmdg 777 from VHHH to RJAA and my flight was very smooth and uneventful, which I love. My only concern was when on final approach into RJAA, the overcast was very dense and I thought it would bring my system down to its knees, but I was able to complete my landing with slight studders taxing to the gate. I keep my AI down to 70% and my LOD settings at 200. Maybe that's why I'm not having studders in the latest beta release for 2024.

I think with the last updates it is really important to clear caches when installing a new build. I upgraded to the latest version today and had severe stutters. Could have been because I installed the latest DLSS files with the previous build but left it at v3.10.1 this time. Once I deleted the NVidia shader caches as well as the rolling cache, the stutters were gone and performance is back to normal (which is still slightly worse than the first SU4 beta builds).

Hmmm, I may try going back to 3.10.1

I had the same. First flight after the latest build I thought I had gone back to SU3! Drop in FPS and stutters. Cleared the caches, restarted the sim and buttery smooth again!

I mentioned having the same problem in SU3 in another thread I'm too lazy to find right now. I was thinking it was something to do with calculating the physics of the tires on the ground that was causing stutters, but others chimed in and pointed me toward sound.

It's the sound of the wheels on the pavement that is, for some reason, causing problems if you have unnecessary sound drivers active.

In addition to the Realtek drivers that were running the VR set I was using at the time, I also had Nvidia audio drivers because my LG monitor that does not have speakers thinks it does and Windows kept installing the drivers for it. I disabled those, and the stuttering-on-rolling stopped. Might be worth a look for you as well, disabling any sound drivers you aren't actively using.

I've long since stopped installing the Nvidia audio drivers so it's not them, I'll have a check and see though as I use headphones so if it doesn't happen with my soundbar then you maybe onto something. But the fact Asobo have tried to optimise this exact area leads me to believe it's nothing I can do my end, but it's worth a shot of course 🙂

Edit: thinking more on this it can't be audio drivers as I can have exactly the same flight but without issues on the ground, which no doubt makes it harder to diagnose as it's not always a constant.

the newest DLSS with transform model (preset K) consumes a lot more VRAM than older DLSS versions with CNN model.

Is one better than the other in terms of ghosting on glass cockpit displays?

Performance tanked with this version... the previous SU4 Betas were super smooth, but it was too good to be true... classic.

Hi,

I've tried both DLSS v3.10.3 and v3.10.4 with SU4 Beta 1.6.16.0.

I can't see any differences between the two versions.

It's also true that I haven't done much testing.

Any further information about this question will be very welcome!

Greetings
