These days to post an image here, we do not need those prefix and suffix [img] labels...so your posted image is not showing up correctly for us.

Thanks but I have no idea what to select at IMGUR to post an image here.

  • Sure, Jack. Here is a screenshot, below, from my MSFS2024. I often use Lat/Long for my flights. Just enter the decimal Lat/Long co-ordinates into the (World Map) Search Box separated by a sp

  • You can tell it to spawn on the ground.    from another comment I found on a sim  “Because it’s an option in the drop down box when you click somewhere on the globe. Options available are:

Look under "FROM" in your screenshot above, it still shows "SELECT DEPARTURE and RUNWAY". So, you've not yet set that custom waypoint as your departure. Once you do that, the FROM should look like as below image. You can then choose how to spawn.

Hope this does it for you...BTW, when I spawned at your Lat/Long, my a/c started rolling into a nearby stream...🙂..., so, be prepared to apply brake...

Ok, good catch, I'll try that now...

Ok, when I click on FROM and enter KBOS nothing still happens. I can click on the word Custom and absolutely nothing happens. This is extremely frustrating. Could it be that I'm on 2020 and 2024 is different?

Not in 2020.

Yes, only in 2024. Missed that OP was in 2020.

You need to click on the pin..

See the second half of this video. You'll still be in the air because 2020 doesnt' support an on ground start. But at least you'll be there and can slew your plane down to the runway to start normally.

Thanks, but how do I slew down? This why I said it started me at 7000' and then just fell to the ground and crashed.

Oh…So, in MSFS2020, it’s not so easy to get to the ground in slew mode, after you are started at 7,000 ft. I see on-line videos, Jack, to use F1 and A keys to bring your a/c to the ground and then exit slew mode, but it seems a bit tricky to me.

Or, maybe, you could exit slew mode at 7,000 ft, by Y key, and retake control of the aircraft, and fly it down..

I wish it were easier…

(About posting images, I’ll send you a bit by PM. That one is easy. Simply omit the [img] tags from both ends of the string that you have i.e., you just paste the part “http…jpg” into your post, and it will directly show up as an image.)

Very much appreciated kind sir, thank you 😊

Get FSTARTER24 and you spawn to anywhere as easy as it gets

This might not help much...

If  need to find a mate's house, I put the address into Google Maps, then copy the lat/long details. I then put those co-ordinates into Little Nav map (by comparing the views) and create a flight plan, using those details. I then export that plan.

I bought the PMS50 GTN750 a while ago. In that unit, it's possible to create a user waypoint - so I sometimes use that facility.

Hi:

Will this allow starting the a/c on the ground at an arbitrary (user-defined) Lat/Long location? That’s what Jack wishes to do, but, unlike in MSFS2024, it’s not easy to achieve that in MSFS2020.

BTW, Jack, the FStarter24 (see above) does seem like a nice little add-on to have. It is for both MSFS2020 and MSFS2024. I might even get it for myself in MSFS2024. Take a look.

Cheers…!

Good point. 'Custom start' at 1500 feet 🙂 That annoying, isn't it? I don't know. Apologies for not having understod the problem, properly.

Where would I get it from?

Jack:

I would let Cap737 give you more details, since I do not own this add-on...

But please look for it e.g., in the Flightsim.to product store, shown available from rksoftware. Yes, I see that it's definitely compatible with MSFS2020.
