MS24/20 Live weather with history/manual time ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I sometimes does not use ASFS (sometimes the dramatics in MSFS is quite nice  - especially those rain clouds in the distance) and noticed the sims using properly a history weather theme/metar. Is it possible the above for using realtime METAR/weather with a manual day of time in sim?

Thanks

You mean for example it's mid day in Europe now, about mid night in New Zealand. You fire up the sim, place yourself in NZ but set the time of day to mid day, but you're getting the current weather (live weather)?

I do something like this all the time in 2020 since I like daytime flights in different parts of the world.

Some airports like SFO might sometimes be foggy at night but clear when the sun is out, but just across the hills at the coast it's still very foggy, even during their daytime. In such cases I might mind the discrepancy a bit, but usually I don't care. I noticed that about MSFS live weather recently, coming into the Bay Area, SFO was sunny, but you could see the line of fog just off the coast. It was very beautifully depicted, it looked very similar to real life.

The sim uses live weather and has a 24 hour buffer. So no matter what time you set anywhere in the world, you’ll have the weather of the time correctly applied.

its only 24 hours so you can’t go back in time more than that.

So you are to use ASFS.

Set any time you want and it will use current weather. (unless tuned)

Yes, so what's your question? Do you want to

1. Fly real time with real weather - can do this by default

2. Fly different time with the real weather of that time - the sim does this too, up to 24 hours

3. Fly different time but with real weather of right now - you can set this as well if you prefer

You can do all this in the base sim, you don't need any third party tools.

Thanks for the response.

Regarding the Question it was  meant as real current weather with past or manual time settings. Point 3)

How to in sim ?

Thanks

Yes, that is possible. In the weather selection Menu click "Custom", then set the checkbox "Live Weather" and set any time you want.

If you want to set a time and have the weather from right now, do it like the previous poster says.

If you want to instead change the time and have the weather match whatever it was at that time, click on Live (right below Weather in the screenshot) and change the time there.
