Gauge/Panel lighting

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am looking to get some info on gauge and panel lighting. This was prompted after reading a post by another user on a similar subject. I am still very new to FS2002 and have not done any night flights yet. But after seeing the other post, I jumped into several of the stock aircraft that ship with FS2002 to see what type of lighting effects they had. As far as I can tell, there is a cabin light (the NAV light), but not any gauge or panel lights. I checked the documentation and went through all the key commands in the manual, but did not see anything pertaining to lights solely for the gauges. Did I miss it or is this right? Aren't gauges and panels in real aircraft back-lit? If there is no panel back-lighting in FS2002, is it possible to do it yourself using FS Panel Studio or some other utility? I did not like the NAV light at all and hate to think I may have to fly at night with that light on. Very unrealistic and low in immersion in my opinion.Any light you guys/gals can shed on this would be appreciated! (pun intended) :)Dave

Hi Dave! This problem was solved for me by Rob Cappers, known for his work with the DC-2.Turned out to be a color setting in the panel.cfg file.Take a look at my thread at:http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...orum=DCForumID8I don't know a whole lot about this stuff but perhaps those figures i show there to get the results I desired will give you some meat to bite into.Good luck!Heather
