November 18, 2025Nov 18 My wife took our kids there when they were younger to see me take off in the 74 one day. They were using 23 so didn’t taxi past the viewing park but I told the kids I’d do a wing wave for them. One of the spotters stood next to my youngest who was probably about 6 or 7 at the time pointed out the 747 about to take off. My son said, yes my dad’s flying that and he’s going to wave wings at us. My wife said the spotter nodded out of courtesy but in obvious disbelief…apparently his face was a picture as we climbed out😂 787 captain. November 18, 2025Nov 18 Sooo glad to hear this. I jumped into the air. I love this airport, and used it alot in FSX times. Vistited also that airport in RL for Plane Spotting which is amazing. The only thing I don`t like about Manchester is the english dialect which was taff for me to understand back then...

Installed all the airlines you listed from AIG ... now just have to wait for release and see if that A380 ops are as expected. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. - Carl Sagan

November 25, 2025Nov 25 Ah Manchester, the only airport in the universe where almost every bag gets pulled for further inspection at security. The queues had to be seen to be believed.

The queues had to be seen to be believed. I was travelling business first through EGCC with the same Samsonite approved carry on luggage I had used for 100+ flights one year (Never check luggage no matter where I am going or for how long) and sure enough, wait for 45 minutes on the security line to get to the front and be told my bag is too large. WHAT? I had already been through Check-In, flown close to 200 legs, could squeeze it into their stupid little box as I demonstrated and they absolutely refused and sent me BACK to check in to go through the whole procedure again only for United to tell me that my bag is fine for carry-on when I returned. Ended up with a UA premium service agent walking me back to security where magically I had no issues on the 2nd time around. Mind you the bag was absolutely littered with pins from all of my customers at the time. NYPD, NJ State Police, New York State Police, TSA, DoD, MoD and the second time I went back the person at x-ray just inquired about the NYPD Bomb squad pin on the bag as it is quite unique, made a quick inquiry about how I obtained it, smiled and we wished each other a nice day... This is the opposite of one of the most secure airports in the world who also looked at the same bag, made the same inquiries and after a brief discussion with me walked me right past security and straight to my gate 🙂 Funny how actually speaking to someone and profiling worked in my favor at one of the most secure airports in the world and the other airport was concerned with "bag size" and never actually said a word or inquired about anything... Usually they go on the lapel of a jacket or uniform but as I was not in uniform I kept them on the bags that I travelled with to all of my meetings. Typically if someone on one of the agencies "gifts" you a pin it is a sign of respect and gratitude for the work you do for them... Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
November 25, 2025Nov 25 Interesting, I’ve never been searched or had my luggage checked in Manchester, but that was around the time of COVID. Heathrow, that’s another story, I almost always get pulled aside when they see I was born in Pakistan (I’m of British origin and now a dual national US/UK passports). Ghana they search everyone in private booths male/female lines (no exceptions) … well they did back in the 90’s. Hoping iniBuilds release Manchester this week.
