  • Then of course the obvious counter argument to your point.  Why is PMDG themselves making the 747-100/200/300/400?   I'm not going to pretend the newest airplanes do not sell in the largest numbe

  • While I'm happy that Boris made an amazing soundpack I don't think this should be the norm. It's a near $78 product with average, near borderline mediocre, sounds, we should keep pushing PMDG to do be

  • I've had a PMDG 737 since FS9 and will always have it no matter what version. It remains the gold standard.

Anyone else disappointed in the lack of texturing updates? It feels like the same plasticky cockpit we had in the 2020 version.
When Robert was talking about a cockpit remodel I thought they'd improve the materials to match the new standard set by the likes of Fenix. I was really hoping that it would be like a night and day difference - a bit like the amazing transformation between the very first release of Fenix's A320 and their subsequent texturing overhaul down the line.

I get it, it's not PMDG's strong suit. And hey, I'm sure it's improved in many other ways that will become apparent once it's out. And yes, I'll buy it regardless. 🫠

Bad news...like before no non winglet model will be included!

This is bad news for those who like older liveries and those few frames flying that still don't have them.

A big disappointment for a model that has been in development for a while.  Also not taking advantage of the ability of having such an option on the fly that can now be easily done.

No other developer is lazy like this.  Imagine if Fenix decided to do Sharklet only models?  I went from very excited about the PMDG 737NG update to not sure I give a hoot?

Its not a definitive 737NG package without a non winglet model.  Some think its not a big deal but it is.  Just ask anyone painting a historical livery.  What is the next surprise?  No non ER 900 because they are now mostly retired?  That is the most fun and challenging frame of them all but I would not put it past PMDG.

IMHO this falls under the Rivet Counter category.
it’d be nice, sure, but it’s not game breaking by any means.

I mean, I guess I could complain about no raked-wingtip for the P-8 Poseidon, too…?

I think I’ll just enjoy it instead. 😁

Plasticky cockpit? I think that some people are flying a different 737 than I am. The VC in MSFS 2020 looks great!

I'm just happy to get it in 2024.  It's been a long time since I flew the NG.  But I was also hoping for a little more in the VC.  For some reason I was expecting an equivalent upgrade we got in p3d going from ngx to ngxu.

Yeah me too. I haven’t flown it in a year. I’ll pay the upgrade if it’s like $10, but too much more and I’ll pass. Kinda forgotten it anyway

I forgot about the fact is he is working on a new type rating.  Either way he is my favorite of the youtube gang by far.

Lol, you were right and I was wrong!

I think its a pretty big deal.  Its a highly requested thing.  It might not be deal breaking but is shows PMDG's true focus.  They obviously won't take community request.  They sort of got a pass for FS2020 but not this time around.  Other developers have eventually offered both options.  Not sure why PMDG won't?

So far I am not super impressed with videos that have been posted.  Curious what the upgrade fee will end up being?

This really says all you need to know about why things are as they are.

Paying again for v4 of the same base underlying textures and model. 😂

I’d be shocked if PMDG aren’t keenly aware of the hundreds of community desires (and their relative ranking on The To Do list )

if they weren’t, they wouldn’t be a successful as they are.

Your ask for plain tips is reasonable, but that doesn’t mean it’s high enough up the list to merit dev time.

all I’m sayin’ is that the lack of or presence of [insert coveted cosmetic feature here] shouldn’t ruin one’s enjoyment of an otherwise objectively great addon. 🤙

Absolutely, and that's exactly my point. (unless you're actually being sarcastic, in which case kudos)

The dark aluminium plates that make up the panel are depicted as a flat, matte surface. But they are actually quite a complex surface in real life. In certain lighting conditions they reflect light a little bit and also take in the shadows more. What it does is give more of a variation to panels that might otherwise just look flat. Like I said, the reworked Fenix cockpits show this beautifully and I'd argue a masterclass in what modern materials could achieve.

But hey look you'd be right in saying who cares. This is about flying planes, etc etc etc. I'm in total agreement with this.

However, this is my point. Robert has been on record in several interviews, including this one, saying that PMDG has specifically worked hard to go all-in on better, more modern workflows. Embrace the MSFS SDK and really look at the standards of the market set by other addon makers.

Off the back of that, I would have loved to be blown away by the contrast between their old version and this one. There's clearly room for them to do better visually, and wouldn't it have been great if they could really show what they could do. Instead we got basically the exact same thing as 2020.

Ultimately, I just want the 737s in 2024 so from that point of view it's fine.

I don’t know that (m)any other dev has as many Study Level addons released (or deeply in production) with as many configuration options as are already included?

e.g., the fabulous Fenix team have only the A32x’s to worry about, et al…

I'll buy it... because I've been a PMG customer for 20 years now. Now, lets get past the 737 and move onto the 747 haha
