November 19, 2025Nov 19 I'll be the first party pooper. After one year, MSFS 2024 still can't remember my most recent visited airports still forces me to watch that intro video still can't properly import a flight plan. I could go on, but these are the points that get on my nerves regularly. The first two points are really easy to fix. I really don't get why they haven't done so yet. IMHO, the toddler has huge potential but is still annoying the family.
November 19, 2025Nov 19 For me, MSFS 2024 has been - by a large margin - the best simulator series release since the genre began. I was in love with FS9 when it released in late 2003, and for another 5 years after that. But MSFS 2024 takes the crown. Of course some things annoy me but almost all of them concern the UI in one way or another. When I'm flying in the sim, it's just an amazing platform and I can't believe the performance I get with it, from a humble RTX 3080 (particularly compared to 2020 which never gave me good performance). Two potential reasons why MSFS 2024 has worked out so well for me :- 1). I didn't buy or try it until August this year, when all the major mess had been addressed. 2). Parallel with the move from 2020 to 2024 for me, was my entering the world of Frame Generation. I had no FG with 2020 and so performance was around 30 FPS on average. With FG and 2024 I get pure butter. So 2024 benefits from that unrelated but well timed upgrade in my hardware. November 19, 2025Nov 19 2024 is fabulous here and has been, even SU3. I marvel at how smooth animation is despite 90 degree turns on the taxiway in complex airports, how much complexity there is and yet unbelievably great performance, just phenomenal. Weather and cloud generation is so much better than was the case in 2020 when I last used 2020. All of my add-ons work great as well and integration with Self Loading Cargo and BATC is good. A few cheapie add-ons dealt w/ taxiway signage and walk-around issues. Graphically sharp and wonderful lighting adds so much to the entire experience. I do look forward to what SU4 brings. I love how quick 2024 initializes compared to its predecessor. A favorite flight of late is out of the wonderful KBJC by Propair Flight to KTEX--just fabulous at dawn from either direction! November 19, 2025Nov 19 I have grown to appreciate some of the improved aspects of 2024 - I wish it had been released in this state - but thats water under the bridge at this point. I do look forward to SU4 as I am still not happy with the stutters I get more often then not (turning at large airports) - which may or may not be improved in the release. Still bounce back and forth from 2020 - but sometimes I am in 2020 wishing i was in 2024.
November 19, 2025Nov 19 I guess it is going to take MS/ASOBO another 3 years before the sim is really anywhere near fit for purpose by which time they will be selling us MSFS2028 Beta but calling it a brand new and better sim which is ready for release, when of course it will not be for many months or years. That would mirror the experience we have had since 2020. You can see the cyclone fencing underneath the roof and that is where I took the photo below of the port from behind the fence. Do you live in/near Broomfield, or did in the past? I'd rather have it than a progress bar myself, but it's my queue to start setting up Simbrief, BATC and Self Loading Cargo. I would agree it's kind of corny so yes, best to ignore it 😉 Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync.
