Anyone in MSFS 2024 Beta with 4k and 16 GB Vram

Featured Replies

Hello fellow Captains. I´m currently flying in 2k with an RTX 5080, 9950x3 CPU and 64 GB ram and with every settings in ultra and 300 in LOD with no stutter whatsoever. 95% of the time Im only bush flying with helos and almost never above 5,000 fet AGL. I would very much be able to go over to 4k but Im afraid that my 16 GB of vram will not be enough for my type of flying. So I would very much appreciate to hear from anyone who is currently in the MSFS 2024 Beta whith 16 vram what your experience is. And if the Beta allows you to fly outside heavy airports an cities with many of the settings in ultra without having too much stutter.

Come here you big, beautiful cup of coffee and lie to me about how much we’re going to get done today.

What do you think would happen if you tried it yourself?

This. There is an option for nVIDIA cards called DSR, you can activate it via Control Panel/App and then simply use 4K and test for yourself.

Running in 4k with 16 gb vram will obviously need some settings turned down, particularly LOD 300.  Probably textire resolution too.

Of course it will depend what addon aircraft and scenery you are using.  I find that a lot of addon photoscenery particularly uses tons of vram.

It's always a case of trading visuals for performance or the other way around until you end up with something that works for you and your system

Personally I prefer 2k with DLAA and everything ultra compared with 4k but having to reduce settings, but others may feel differently.

Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

I cannot wait to test this when I have MSFS 2024 up and running on my new PC. Lots of people seem to have had problems with VRAM in flight simulators over the years, but I am not one of them.

Thanks for all of you who gave me usefull answers. I was not aware of the DSR option, so thats why I´ve not tried It my self "St Mawgan" and I was hoping to get some helpful answers without bying an 4k sceen to find out that 4k maybe was not so good decision after all. But that scenario maybe didn´t occur to you 😉

As you didn't mention you only had a 2k screen and didn't say you were thinking of getting a 4k one, which would have been my starting point for a question like this, no, it didn't 😉

Yes.  5070ti with 16 gig and run at 4k.

texture resolution needs to be on high (not ultra) and frame gen x3

monitor is locked at 120 hertz not 144 as default. With vsync forced on in ncp

i used this tutorial to set up

Frame gen uses additional VRAM - according to hardware unboxed.

so it might be worth remembering that when testing
