No AI Traffic Showing in FSX with MyTraffic Installed

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,
I’m running FSX with MyTraffic Professional installed, but I’m running into a problem where no AI traffic is appearing at major airports (e.g., KATL at 12:00 local time). Here’s what I’ve checked so far:
•     Traffic sliders are set above 0.
•     MyTraffic is enabled in the Scenery Library and placed at the top of the priority list.
•     The MyTraffic aircraft folders (e.g., MT_A320, MT_B747, etc.) exist in `C:\MyTraffic Professional\MyTraffic\Aircraft`.
•     The SimObjectPaths entry in `fsx.cfg` correctly points to that folder.
•     Default `trafficAircraft.bgl` has been renamed to `.off`  to avoid conflicts.
•     MyTraffic `.bgl` files (`Mytrafficcommercial.bgl`,`MytrafficGlobal.bgl` , etc.) are present in`C:\MyTraffic Professional\MyTraffic\Scenery`.
•     I even tried copying those `.bgl` files into `Scenery\World\Scenery`, but still no traffic appears.
Despite all of this, FSX continues to show only my own aircraft—no AI traffic at all. I am turning to this forum for help because MyTraffic's forum is no longer available.
Has anyone seen this behavior before, or know if there’s a version mismatch or corruption issue with MyTraffic’s traffic files? I’d appreciate any guidance or troubleshooting steps.
Thanks in advance,
Evan

Hello Evan,

I was a HEAVY FSX user up until about a week ago, on the long journey now to getting MSFS24 up and running.  I had a heavily modified AI setup in FSX with a mix of my own created flights and Ultimate Traffic2. Probably not many FSX'ers left so I'll try to help.

-Did you have just the default FSX AI traffic prior to installing MyTraffic?

-Have you ever added your own created flights using TTools?

-Have you ever used WOAI packages?

-Once installed did MyTraffic EVER show AI traffic in the sim?

Respectfully,

Sheldon

to Bill10: sorry to post this twice. I was trying to quote your reply and the first attempt was unsuccessful

a long time ago, I had just the default traffic in my earlier years with Flight Simulator X, but after a while, I switched to World of AI which has been my main traffic package up to today, when I tried to operate MyTraffic 6 (I didn't mention before that I moved all World of AI files to a separate folder off of my flight simulator to avoid traffic conflicts). Second, I have used Ttools with some AI flight plans, but not with MyTraffic 6. Third, as mentioned before in my first post, MyTraffic 6 didn't display any AI traffic in ATL upon starting the simulator, despite all the traffic sliders being set above 0. I invested in MyTraffic 6 because it is the only AI traffic software that not only includes many of today's airlines, but also lets you fly with vintage traffic in the beginning of the jet era, and no other traffic package would offer me this. I should also add that with World of AI I have had to completely turn off traffic at certain Caribbean airports in order to avoid a crash to desktop (CTD) error, and I was told that MyTraffic should solve this issue. this combined with everything else is why I am determined to get this tool to work

Evan,

These AI traffic issues can be tricky. There is a conflict somewhere .. might be WOAI stuff or old FS9 traffic bgl's.

First try this: rename the original default trafficAircraft back to its .bgl file name and remove ALL, including the MyTraffic created (AI traffic) .bgl's and any other AI traffic .bgl's.  Are there any WOAI aircraft in SimObjects Airplanes?

See if the default AI traffic will display and show up.

I removed all World of AI bgl. files and folders prior to installing MyTraffic 6, and even before the default trafficAircraft.bgl was renamed to OFF, neither default AI Traffic nor AI traffic associated with MyTraffic 6 (after install) was showing but I'll check if it's because of old FS9 Traffic bgls. and I'll let you know if that was the cause, unless you've got other suggestions for what I can try next

So with just the default trafficAircraft.bgl in use no AI traffic would display correct?  If this is correct then there is a conflict, sorry that is obvious, the conflict is most likely another traffic bgl file.  With using WOAI and TTools in the past you may have missed one  .. keep searching!

It could be a corrupted trafficAircraft.bgl file but that is a long shot  ...  what size is your default trafficAircraft.bgl file ?

What I was trying to accomplish is get your system back to default AI traffic working then go from there with installing MyTraffic.

I actually just thought of something: When I installed MyTraffic 6, and after activating it in the FSX Scenery Library, the entry may not have shown up in the FSX scenery config file. I'll check to see if that could be the cause and if it turns out not to be that, I could check the traffic file(s)

That was my next dart to throw  ..  delete the scenery entry and reinstall.

Good luck .. these can be frustrating problems.

I just figured out how to make the traffic appear. The simulator wasn't reading the entry of the MyTraffic Professional folder correctly, and adding a missing line to the Scenery cfg. finally got the traffic to show up

AWESOME! Glad you got it working. Those AI traffic issues can be a dark hole.
