At $50, if in fact that is what it ends up being, they can go pound sand. $20 sounds about reasonable, and even that wouldn’t exactly put a smile on my face.

Cheers, Pete

$20 isn't reasonable at all when most other devs are doing free upgrades and providing equal or superior products.

If you are going to charge, then something like $5 seems somewhat reasonable.

There are a lot of add ons I don’t buy because I think their value is not what I would pay . There is absolutely no point to discuss each personal choices and reasoning behind it. It dreadful to go over pages of grievances in this regard. We can do better, just vote with your wallet - the most powerful silent way without shedding a word! lol

Why should they base their pricing on what other devs did? People are free to enjoy those other devs as they have no relevance to whatever PMDG is doing

All of this “privacy” and “security” talk makes me giggle.

You people are up in arms over a rumored incident by a minuscule vendor when it has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Big Tech, and every single government are indiscriminately hoovering up your entire digital footprint AND actively propagandizing & coercing you in so many ways.

Laughable if not so sad.

They don't have to do that. I'm just stating what would be reasonable based on what other devs are charging for equal or superior products. They are free to charge an unreasonable price, and others are free to pay that unreasonable price if they wish.

Well that’s not what PMDG are rumored to be doing, is it…?

methinks the point is flying a few FL’s above your head. 🤙

10 pages of mostly price complaints … PMDG is certainly popular so I guess they can name their price 😉 … if I were to hazard a guess, popularizing PMDG threads be it in a negative or positive way isn’t going to get the price lower most likely the opposite.

One would think everyone here is poor and starving in the streets … but their hardware specs seem to contradict that 😉 … as does the Navigraph survey … and this is just entertainment isn’t it?

Don’t get me wrong, there is massive corporate greed and manipulation in the consumer market (RAM, GPUs, etc.), but I just don’t see that happening at PMDG (or any 3rd party content provider).  Most software engineering companies that sell products to the public move to a subscription process as it is probably the only way to retain sustainability … that or inclusive advertising.

Over the decades PMDG have managed to continue by providing products people want at the quality level they want, maybe not perfect for all, but still very good with a level of polish and quality support.  Any tickets I’ve opened with PMDG, I got a response within 24 hours (usually sooner) … support is expensive to maintain.

The fact PMDG are continuing with MSFS 2024 products is excellent and I hope they charge whatever helps keep them in business for future development work.

It will need to be a very low cost upgrade for me as I'm quite happy with I-Fly's 737 MAX 8 and was totally surprised to learn PMDG did not prioritize bringing their most popular plane to 2024.

Their most popular plane is the Queen.

Whataboutism, relative privation, and red herring all wrapped into one response.  Good job!

It's all about value. The 5090 and 9800X3D + 64GB DDR5 PC I have is very much worth it to me for well over $5000. I can't get this level of performance with any other combination of hardware.

$20+ for a product I have already purchased when others are providing free upgrades for products that are equal or better makes zero sense. I am happy to stick with the iFly 737 MAX, which is better anyway.

Having money doesn't mean you just throw it away needlessly. I can purchase hundreds of addons I don't need that would cost me as much as my PC, but that wouldn't be very wise.

For me its no so much about price as long as its somewhat reasonable.  My concern is for some reason PMDG won't produce a certain model I desire and implement simple user select features.  I am not alone in this and its the number #1 requested feature but for some reason PMDG just can't be bothered to do it.  At the same time I have paid in the neighborhood of $200 for the FS2020 version and now I am expected to pay a certain yet to be determined amount again for the 2024 version.  If they implemented the features I desire along with many others I would be exited to pay a again.  Possibly even full price if my mood sets right.  Instead they are doing a rinse and repeat of exactly what they did last time.

Will I buy the 2024 version?  Unfortunately probably assuming the price is somewhat reasonable.  The higher the set price the less likely I am to do it.  My tolerance on price varies by day but right now its about $10.00.  If PMDG simply gave us a non winglet model I would pay full price.

What’s puzzling now is the double standard. When FSLabs did it, the reaction was universal condemnation. When PMDG is suspected of doing something even remotely similar, suddenly we’re told to relax, trust the developer, and assume everything is fine.

That double standard has been around for years and years! One just has to look at "everyone" using auto ortho, yet these same people would lose their minds if someone was using a pirated airliner or airport. So is it a double standard or are they just hypocrites?

The reason I have the hardware specs that I do.. is because I don't just spend all my money uselessly. An individual's bank balance has nothing to do with whether PMDG is delivering value or not.

Or should PMDG just price it at $500? I can afford that for entertainment, no problem, I won't "starve in the streets". So can many, many other people on here. There are some that can pay $5000 without blinking.

I'm sorry, this line of argument is simply specious and completely misses the point. Just because someone can afford to pay ridiculous prices, doesn't mean that they should pay ridiculous prices.

Every time someone brings out this tired old trope.. 😄
