I've studied the image and have tried to compare 'forensic' aspects like the font types etc, to see if there is a chance the image had been doctored.

People can make up their own minds but I believe that the image is legitimate.

It just doesn't surprise me.  when he feels under pressure, Randazzo has acted like that before.  He ultimately thinks he's better than the rest of us so when the pressure builds up, if reveals what he really thinks.

Me too. It must be hard for someone who has shown egocentric (some would call it even narcissistic) public behavior in the past to experience facing opposition.

This is an interesting take on PMDG's EULA, relative to members who get banned by them:-

And this is probably also the reason why the bans were quietly lifted by PMDG.

Oh wow I did not see that.  That's really quite unacceptable in today's business practice.  That being said, maybe he was having a bad day.  We also don't know the entire story... perhaps this user excluded some other parts of the story.

Yup. The user seems credible in the Reddit thread, the screenshot is almost certainly genuine – and so is Mr. R.'s reply. This is completely unacceptable.

He's angry because some of us got a 30.00 discount that didn't buy the 800 just the 700 and stuck it to "The Man." 🙂

I guess so lol.  I'll probably still get the 700 - but just wait on it.  I'm not an airline guy.  I think the 800 is more popular for those people.

Well I have some 1.5 hour left on my week ban on Discord. Think I start with a rant on ”word not allowed”.

Wow that's a terrible and unprofessional way to treat your customers ! I have been very much looking forward to the 800 and was going to upgrade this afternoon but you know what ?

The last 3 flights I have been on have been Max 8 so I am going to have a change .... It's not about the money I'm not going to support a dev with that attitude.

Yet if you read some of the PMDG-related threads specifically on Reddit, you will see absolutely horrid abuse of the company and RSR by some (not all) posters. I can understand why Robert might have gotten his hackles up in this case if he read some of those posts. Not excusing it, but I can understand why it might have happened.

Customers have as much a duty of respect towards how they address the company - especially on their own forums, as PMDG does towards how they deal with customers.

I only have the v2020 -700, but I was (eventually) able to get the -800 for the $30 price.

Something slightly different seems to work for different people. For me, switching browsers to Mozilla Firefox and logging in to pmdg.com before I added the jet to the cart presented me with the discount when I hit the Pay Now page. Whereas previously, using MS Edge, no combination of tactics worked (InPrivate, cookies/cache cleared, logged out, then in, etc., etc.).

I was okay with waiting until Feb, TBH, but to be able to try out the improvements RIGHT NOW combined with a variant I don't already have made it a Flash Sale I couldn't resist.

(and yeah, I know Randazzo "got me" - and that's just fine with me 😉 )

I have Firefox installed, but the "trick" is not working for me.

Let’s talk about the NGXu. If you aggregate the price of all variants for P3Ds NGXu, the total cost of the 737 line up was 180.00 US. Today for just the 2020 version with out the discount it ended up being 224.99 US. If you had the credit for the NGXu you ended up paying around 150.00 US for the entire fleet. Now we’re in 2024, and we’ve paid another $30.

I'm in the same boat but came to an entirely different conclusion in re the new pricing structure.

When I originally purchased the NGXu (yeah, I was late to the PMDG party...), it was $99. Then once I figured out how good it was, I added the $25 BBJ expansion (because I like that doubling of range and fly wherever route you want aspect). Then, yeah, I eventually added the other variants - $25 here and $25 there.

I mainly did it because of that Buy One Now, Get One Later offer, so the MSFS -700 was free, along with the DC-6. So that was quite a good deal...

But the key point here is that the MINIMUM Cost of Acquisition of "the" 737 addon was $100. And IIRC, it was $125 for the 777.

Today, though, the minimum Cost of Acquisition for a study level 737 is just $35 bucks. Even with all the inflation since 2019...

And that $125 777? Now available every single day for $50, and I got mine for $35 during their anniversary Flash Sale.

I'm not a "completionist" - and I suspect neither are MANY other simmers. Once you've flown one airframe, you've flown them all (similar to IRL).

So while you're absolutely correct in that the total cost of ALL 737 variants is significantly higher than it was before, the truth is that the cost of PMDG products has never been cheaper than it is now.

And before anyone sputters, "but what about muh Fenix!!!", remember how many sales and special deals THEY have offered. Fenix's pricing strategy is literally straight out of the old PMDG book!

This is why the pricing matrix of PMDG, despite the objections of the Old Guard, is actually the single most consumer-friendly strategy of ALL the High Fidelity addon devs.

They are in a position of power with the niche in the market, and they know it. And anyone here who says “just don’t buy it “ must not have learned enough about monopoly or lack of competition. We are at the mercy of what the one provider can offer and we either swallow the big pill , or don’t play.

Sorry, not sorry: this is absolute bunk.

There was never a monopoly, and there is nothing BUT competition, and far more than EVER before. This is the exact same "thinking" that Ford has a monopoly on pickup trucks because they're the only ones that make the F150 - it simply isn't true.

This hobby is the only one where I’ve seen that the developers and business can tell the customer “you’re wrong” and we are expected to just sit back and take it

Then you don't have enough hobbies, my friend. I see this all the time in other companies. The ones that are great get what they want and rarely have sales.

For sure he was having a bad day. That doesn't excuse the response, of course. The internet community can be very toxic and even a small percentage of a largely very vocal base will cause headaches for any person (see also Fenix and why they no longer report estimated release times) . You have to have thick skin when you're selling your products online. People have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to PMDG and, in my opinion, it's mostly because of how PMDG and some of their fans have behaved and continued to behave. I think PMDG are a little better now than they were back in the FSX/P3D days. All I know is that, as someone who sells products online over a decade, I would be mortified if I or any of my CS team communicated with my customer base like they have at times. That being said, I do like their product and felt that the $30 fine enough for me to spend on considering how much I use it, though not exactly what I wanted ($15). Whatever, they know how much they need to keep afloat and cover their expenses to continue to churn out their addon planes and I don't.
