Who else fully moved over to MSFS2024 this week?

Just want to say that I'm pleased and surprised and how fast MSFS 2024 has been loading for me this past week.  Great job all!

Not the week you posted this OP, but yes I've fully migrated now. Some of the mods I have in 2020 aren't yet 2024 compatible but the main ones are and I'm loving the new stability with MSFS2024. The way it should have been. I am a little nervous that SU5 will set us back though as it happened with 2020 😬

This^^^  is the reason I'm keeping 2020 installed.

Too late.  The never say live folks are saying SU4 already did that.

For anyone who is on the fence regarding upgrading to MSFS 2024, I would absolutely recommend it. After waiting a year for most of the rough edges to be smoothed out, I am happy to report that it is performing very well on my new PC, and it looks very nice (better than MSFS 2020). Beautiful lighting, crisp terrain textures, better 3D procedural grass/rocks/pebbles etc, good performance with very few stutters, and no WASM (or any other) crashes so far. In addition, you may be interested to learn the following....

  • Those "land bars" in MSFS 2020 that I grumbled about a few hundred times seem to have been fixed. It is so nice to be able to fly the RNAV 02 approach into EGHI Southampton without having to endure those two annoying strips of land across the top end of Southampton Water. I have also checked out quite a few locations where river mouths and harbours suffered from this problem, and they are all fine 👍
  • Rendering of specific small islands and coastal cliffs that suffered from "late loading" DEM data seems to have been massively improved. Whilst it is early days in my investigation of this annoying problem that affected MSFS 2020, I have seen enough improvements to be hopeful that the issue has been effectively resolved.

I forgot to mention one other aspect of MSFS 2024, and that is the load times. MSFS 2024 boots up from desktop to menu extremely quickly, but not as quickly as it takes to load my selected aircraft and airport. That process is lightning fast!

It’s great to finally hear of such accolades about MSFS2024 from you Chris…🙂

Patience is a virtue for some of us…unlike yours truly who had jumped into MSFS2024 on Day 2…🙂…but no regrets, it has been a fun and rewarding experience, nonetheless…

Have fun…!

Need my MD11 in 2024 first...waiting on TFDI....

You might actually get this one…before your often-requested 747…🙂

SU4 has somehow solved the microstutter thing and even the most dense major airports are now running at 60+fps with TrackIR and full AI. At least for me it is.

One disappointment to mention with respect to MSFS 2024.......the AI engine is still useless at rendering circular oil tanks. I have seen a few places that look OK, but these could be hand placed objects. Elsewhere, I still see square shaped buildings plonked down on clearly identifiable circular tank images at oil terminals. I was expecting that to have been sorted out by now

Not here, still on FS2020 & XP - have installed most of my payware aircraft to it in the last few weeks, but whilst it loads up quick - loading in the scenery takes an age, and still ends up looking far worse than FS2020. That's with decent internet as well .. ..

Two more reasons to upgrade to MSFS 2024.....

  • The trees look so much better (both up close, and at a distance). In addition, the tree density has been reduced. There are far too many trees in MSFS 2020, so this is a solid improvement.
  • Seasons is a feature that never interested me in all of my previous flight simulators, but they are a welcome addition in MSFS 2024. Deciduous trees with no leaves look very good, courtesy of the vastly improved models. There are also subtle changes to the trees virtually every day as the seasons progress. I also really like the fact that there is now a snow line in the scenery. This looks really nice, with high mountain tops covered in snow, but snow free flanks further down. If the mountain is not high enough (like the vast majority of them in the UK), then there will be no snow at all. It just makes the scenery look that much more realistic

I may not be as discerning a sightseer in MSFS2024 as you are with an eye for the minutest details in scenery ...🙂...but this one above I can certainly vouch for...

I forgot where exactly... alongside a river, in the vicinity of a big city, I wished to capture a few shots of these oil tanks (via Drone Camera). As I drew near, I could not stand the ungainly sight of these objects...some are kind of round, but look rather abnormal and strange...clearly AI generated...
