Poor performance tied to injected traffic in MSFS 2024

I used to do that but I completely forgot the process I followed in the past 😕

Could you link here the sites/ applications / instructions for downscaling?

Thx !

Have sent you a DM.

Use AIG traffic and not FSLTL traffic because the difference in performance is significant. I'm using BATC with 10/10/10 and see little difference in performance vs no traffic at all.

To expand on what Mike T just mentioned is that FSLTL aircraft use limited LOD models and mostly 4k textures. It WILL have an impact on performance compared to AIG unless you reduce the textures to 1024 or 2048 etc. AIG's are multi LOD conforming to the MSFS SDK as well as optional lower res textures.

Wish FSTL would provide a 2k option. To do it yourself seems complicated.

Does that mean, even the default ASOBO ones?

Yes. You can even custom tuned a text file (VMR model matching) for SI. Please note, this feature is not yet support by the devs. Priority by default is FSTraffic -> AIG -> FSLTL -> IVAO MTL -> Anything else. Sayintentions traffic performs WAY better than any of the competitors, as I think it is controlled elsewhere and piped into your sim.

However, I still find it janky, being routed straight into oncoming aircraft taxying, and aircraft being cleared for T/O when I'm on short finals.  Also in 2024 you mostly can't see the landing gear until aircraft are close to you, which is completely ridiculous.

The whole thing is between Alpha and Beta 😉This morning I was blocked - like a dozen of other AI planes - behind... myself ATC told me to hold short, number 1 behind a Skyhawk and they were only one skyhawk in the whole area at Boston Logan 😉

... which is a MSFS issue or MSFS+AIG+FSLTL+MTL...'s problem as Say.Intentions doesn't proposed any model.

Hey Folks,

Thanks for everyone's responses here.  Last evening I removed FSLTL and added AIG and it made a substantial impact for sure.  The models look fine to me and I can enable traffic again.

Thanks all,

Tony

This is in part ATC heresy, but there is a way to have ample AI traffic, use BATC, yet have much less impact on sim performance

So, this means ATC will talk to you and only you, right?

That's right.  I use Premium voices for controllers only, not traffic, so it's not too bad for cost.  And...I use LiveATC to provide regional ambience and it works great for that.

while Say.Injections seems to be way less impactfull.

Because it's not using the sim's default AI systems so there's a lot less CPU/Memory impact.

Same with BATC and other injectors that don't use the sim's AI systems.

I will use BATC's injection and enjoy what that offers despite sometimes stuttery animation.  In big demanding terminals I use FSLTL's which is always smooth.

Because the traffic injected by FSLTL uses the sim's AI systems, while injectors like BATC and SI move the aircraft around themselves.
