  • Yeah, this stupid snow coverage bug ruins the use of live weather throughout two thirds of the year in the Alps. As Asobo is a french company, I do really wonder if they ever use real live in their ow

I think the sim has an issue if it doesn't know about snow on the ground and its not currently snowing. I tried it in Manchester yesterday when there was a live stream of snow being on the ground but

Alright if you’re going to argue in bad faith let’s just end it here.

I apologise and I'll admit here the pushback against console users does tend to press some personal buttons of mine.

My eldest son works incredibly hard to support his wife, my two grandchildren and their considerable mortgage. He'd love a state of the art PC but he's sensible enough to know at this time expensive toys for dad are out of the question.

He's been simming since he was twelve years old. For him, MSFS on Xbox, with a few peripherals and some quality add ons has been a god send. At the moment he's enjoying the PMDG 777 which I was able to gift him for Christmas.

If I want advice on how to set up an RNP approach on my 737, I'll ask him....

Once again,  I apologise for pushing the point but I can't see how any of us who enjoy flightsims can be suffering due to their availability on consoles.

It actually seems that Active Sky in Passive mode doesn´t add snow cover.

From Hifi Sim:

  • Depiction Mode Constraints: The ground snow cover control feature is available exclusively in the ASFS Preset weather depiction mode. In Passive mode, which relies on MSFS's internal live weather depiction, ASFS does not control snow coverage.

Sorry if I gave someone hope 😞

The snowy weather in MSFS 2024 is a strange one - I did a few VA flights into EFRO over the Christmas period and I noticed that when I flew into the airport it might be covered in snow. if I reloaded the sim and spawned in, there was no snow/ice cover on the ground. However if I waited a while (20 mins or so) the weather would morph into snow + ice cover. it would be nice if that "morph" could be done immediately, skipping the 20 minute transition period.

Maybe start 20 min's earlier in the sim and then increase sim rate to 4 or 8x inorder for the grround to "collect" the snow.

Just a possible workaround for something that should be instant.
