This has been too awesome. Still a bit to go but already I have created a plane I wish I had when I was flying homebuilts. I have some details to check, but I was just curious if anyone else would be interested in a copy when it's done? It handles like a dream. Quick and responsive. All moving flying surfaces. Working on the other moving parts. I hope I have not worn out my welcome here, but this has put a whole new aspect to Flightsim for me. Now instead of rumaging through the file libraries for new aircraft, I am creating what I have always wanted.I'll stop now. Back to the drawing board.Bob C.

Yes this is a GMAX model. I played around with some of the other design software for Flightsim, but in my opinion it is the greatest. It has a learning curve, but if you persevere, and get some helpful hints from the kind folks here (the 3ds Max Bible helps too), your reward will be bountiful! I too have had frustrating moments with setting the axis on various moving parts, but I just keep tinkering.Regarding copies, the details must be addressed. And there is a bit more to do. You are the kind soul who just helped me already... :) I just finished watching a tutorial on how to create the motion-blurred transparency for the props, but I've not actually found a "basic" tutorial on props, yet.It's a pity that the stupid P38 tutorial stops before it gets to props and animation.It's kinda like making cookie dough, and then not baking the cookies! :(

Thanks for the kind words!! Just so happened the canopy was the next thing on my list. I've still got a lot of detail work that I want to do. As I mentioned before, the learning curve is sometimes the most time consuming part of this endeavor. This is really my first serious attempt at a full airplane. Gmax has provided the tools that I lacked before, and now I am really motivated to see how far I can go. I'm thinking the next might be a version of the Longeze (or E Racer) or maybe a Midget Mustang. I have the plans for that one. Maybe now I could actually put them to use.As for release of this one, I am using an awesome air file, and I have to attempt to get permision to distribute with it, giving full and due credit to the original author of course. But, we'll see.Bob C.

Hello Bob! A serious Homebult lover here. I in fact have one in mind I plan on building in 10 years or so. I plan on modeling it also soon (my first attempt) and since I dont want to be one upped I wont share the name yet! :-lolI've been following Homebuilts for over 20 years...big fan of Long-Ez's....(have flown one, soon to be Brother-in-Law built one and is the FBO at HBZ), also love the Velocity Line, Lancair's, Glasairs, etc...If your thinking of doing an Ez, look into the Berkut RG. I think it's about the ultimate Ez. No longer in production (tooling for sale) but many built: www.berkutengineering.com/pages/builders.htmlI'd love to see a clean VC equip't, modern digital panel (with steam back-ups! He He) Ez to burn up the sky! Same with the other brands! We need a Homebuilt specialist team! LOL! I'm learning Photoshop right now, then on to GMAX. Good to see there are some more homebuilt lovers out there!!I agree, the Berkut RG wuld be a nice one to do. I am looking to do a canard aircraft with full retract gear and tandem seating. Coooould be!!Over the years I have wished there would be more attention paid to producing good quality homebuilts. There have been a few. But not enough. Don't get me wrong. I do like to cruise around in the standard Spam Cans, but if you've really flown a truly small plane before, the sensation is incredible!! Like a sports car on a three dimensional road through the sky.If you look on the main FS forum page, you'll see I embarassed myself by asking I guess a stupid question. But, as far as offering this one to other users, it kind of the states a dilemma I'm in.What are the other guys doing about *.air files?Thanks for the interest!!!!!!Bob C.

Totally agree Bob! While I'll be someday taking lessons in Spam Can (and to tell the the truth, I do like a lot of them a lot..) homebuilts offer so much more. The Long-Ez I flew felt like my favorite CFS FW190! The side stick felt like my Sidewinder here, real easy wrist motion to set up a great roll rate....we zoomed all over some very green (and Euro looking!) forests and lakes in north Arkansas. 160HP, 200mph cruise, 1400 mile range....sweet!Wait until you see the one I want! I've been on a newletter with the designer/builder the past 2 years...high speed trailer tests are about complete, first flight soon! 4+ Passenger, 55 mush, 220 Cruise, 1500+ range, pressurized option, ballistic safety chute, and it glues together with molded locators like legos! The Designer has built wings for over 200 Long's, E-Racers, Velocity's, etc...he knows what he's doing. Early design verification was done in X-Plane! I plan on putting a Turbo'd 2 Rotor Wankel (Mazda) Engine in it. 250+ Hp, 20,000' cruise easy, low fuel burn (and any fuel runs in them, even kerosene!), and nothing in the engine to break. (no recorded history of these breaking to date, even when over heated they still run at reduced power...)
