Guide to getting started with guages

Recommended Posts

Guest PhilipManwaring

Greetings! I have some programming experience but am new to guage design. I was hoping to begin playing with guage construction and was wondering if anybody here knows a good resource to help me get started. Ideally I'd like to program in VB as the project I have in mind will require some complex algorithms, but I really don't know where to start in terms of the various system variables, function calls, etc. available. Any pointers would be appreciated.Thanks,Philip.

Hi,well, you cannot make gauges with VB. You either make them with XML or with C. I personally use C. For a free compiler goto www.borland.com and get the BCC5.5 that works fine for me. For some 'tutorial'... Well I think there's no real 'step-by-step' instructions out there, but you MUST get sd2gau13.zip from Dai Girffiths (available here). You also should get the Panel and Gauges SDK from Microsoft.Hope I could help
