January 16Jan 16 My top wish is for them to make some major strides in improving the default ATC and live AI traffic system. With ATC, I would at least like to see the option to request descend via the Star for those frequent times where ATC does not issue it or issues it far to late, and the ability to ask for a different approach or to provide realistic vectors during an approach. AI traffic needs to behave far more realistically -- none of this circling the airport at 200 feet agl or lower, etc. It would also be nice to see a scenery gateway similar to X-Plane with improved generic airport buildings and terminals, so the community can help improve default airports on a global scale. XP 12 clouds are so blurry and the definition of the clouds are often poor. I definitely don't want the blurry clouds in MSFS 2024. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

I have been exclusive to XP12 for a few months, mainly because of the updated weather system, which has a much better representation of real world cloud types. For the last couple of weeks I have been back into 2024 flying the Blacksquare and A2A aircraft which are spectacular. What I haven't noticed are sharper clouds than I see in XP12. I have been pleasantly surprised at the improvements 2024 has made since I was last a regular user. Less impressive are the lack of cloud types that really could do with an update. January 16Jan 16 The funny thing is that while I recognize and agree with so many of these wishes, I'm fairly well satisfied with v2024 right now. Particularly when I rotate back in from another sim. E.g., was flying a DCS P-51 Mustang Campaign last night and had a great time because it's such a wonderful simulation of a challenging aircraft doing challenging activities. But it sure will be nice to get back to MSFS for all the things it does better. So for v2024, my main wish is that after an entire year for addon devs to focus on bringing their 2020 addons from Compatibility to Native. And yeah I'd be happy to incentivize that by paying an upgrade fee for all the extra work it takes. It's going to (continue to) be a slow process, I know.

There's a big difference in sharpness and 2024 clouds aren't even very sharp to begin with. X-Plane clouds do absolutely win when it comes to cloud types and depiction but they're definitely running at a much lower resolution. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.

From a medium distance and beyond xp12 wins but closer up xp12 voxels lack detail compared to MSFS. Tradeoffs really. The biggest reason why I'm not all in on xp12 is the AA is still pretty terrible especially on metallic surfaces (such as a heated leading edge of a wing) and the lack of a solid (high resolution) Ortho imagery. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
