I might try the Boris pack...not a big outlay. But, I think the sounds in the 2024 PMDG version are pretty darn good.

The Boris soundtrack with the 2024 PMDG 738 really helps it.  As soon as I put his sounds in, the plane came to life as far as engine sounds go from all views. It is an amazing combination and a step

Didn’t the 737-800 come out with supposed all new sounds that Bobby was opining on for months in his YT videos? Said they spent the money and hired people for it. They still didn’t get them right after all that?

Way better than stock and I got it for free as I had the 2020 version.

That guy is absolutely genius and I adore his work - However I think this is something developers themselves should have done it in the first place. I don't understand why developers like PMDG or any other for that matter would get people like Boris onboard to do their sounds, They themselves have struggled for years to get it right and even to this day the 2024 version of 737 still does not sound perfect. You simply don't get that immersion that you get when using Boris sound pack. I would be more then happy to pay few extra dollars in my initial purchase to have everything in one package. Other developers like iFLY and Blacksquare's have used Boris's input for sounds and they all sound better, even better then any of the PMDG addons so far.  PMDG charged $30 for upgrade - the very least I would have expected some improvements on sounds. I hate to say this but TFDI has done a better job in this with $5 dollar upgrade to their MD11. PMDG simply no longer care for quality - Randazzo simply yaps on their forums these days.

With all due respect, I think that the new PMDG sound package for the 737-800 is very immersive. It is certainly good enough for me. That was not the case with the 777F, which is why I purchased the Boris Soundworks upgrade package for it.

Yeah they are better but not as immersive as Boris 737ng sound pack if you have used that in the past.

Far prefer Boris's sound pack. Whilst undoubtedly PMDG has improved their's, it's still not as immersive as Boris's for me.

I find the new default 737 sounds pretty good too. On the Boris sounds I also do miss the more expressive click sounds too. I will stay with the default sounds here.

On the 777 it was a no brainer, but not here.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I guess you didn't follow Roberts directions for your Windows Settings for the PMDG 737 in 2024 when it was released, not the sims settings.

From Robert:

(If you want to enjoy the full aspect of sound built into the PMDG 737-800NG For MSFS 2024, go here in your windows settings, and select "Windows Sonic for Headphones" in your Advanced Settings/Spatial sound option: (DO IT NOW, so you don't forget!)

You said "PMDG's spatial sound settings".

You can see why he couldn't find it - it's not PMDG's sound settings, it's a Windows sound setting that PMDG are recommending you to use.

Just to clarify from my OP;

I prefer Boris's sounds and definitely wouldn't remove them and use the default sounds (although as others have said, they are an improvement over the stock 2020 737 sounds).

The engine sounds are absolutely fantastic (which I said in the OP) and I love how the buzz sound slowly fades and is replaced by wind and harder working packs!.

My feedback was purely about the switch sounds, which are very quiet.

The post wasn't intended as a "which do you prefer, Boris or stock" but it's gone that way and, well.... no problem! 😊

I found my sounds improved when I actually set my FS2024 sounds Listening Mode to the correct selection. All this time I was using Hi-Fi. When I selected Home Theater for my setup, the sounds became more alive for me. All this time I was using the wrong option for my hardware. Even my switches sound better then before.

My fist line said, Windows Setting. Roberts post said windows sound settings. Can't get any simplier then that. I'm done explaining. You'll figure it out.
