I wonder when a good Mirage III will be released...

I used the free trial and the more I flew it, the more I liked it. Great fun and really didn’t need to over think it for $13 USD. FM does seem to need some tweaking (excessive roll rate when performing barrel roles and low rudder authority), but otherwise the FM feels alive and I love flying her. Take offs and landings are a blast and she flies differently enough from the other mil jets I own that she’s not repetitive.  Plus she’s a sleek beauty to admire from external view!

In VR I have all settings set to ultra, and the cockpit reflections don’t bother me, but they do seem exaggerated. I hope we get a small patch, but I won’t be bothered if we don’t.

Had a quick demo flight last night and will do it again tonight before it runs out.  Seems like a lot of fun to fly, I have no idea if the roll rate is realistic but have read from the devs that it is.  In any event it’s dizzying in 2D, I think I’d be reaching for a puke bucket in VR!

One thing in comparison to the other T-38 that is available is cost, for me this one is less than half the price of the Aero Dynamics T-38 - which I suppose is fair given that the Aero Dynamics version also includes the C variant.

I’m leaning toward buying the Famous Flyer since my use of it would be casual and it’s probably not worth me spending the extra money on the AD version.  Having said that, I’m still interested in hearing from people who have flown both before making a final decision.

Hello. Does it have autopilot? Thanks

You’d have to go to another fast jet for .mil with autopilot.

I enjoy flying her until she misbehaves and when she does I do wonder how realistic the flight model actually is and if the Just Flight Hawk is more accurate to this type of aircraft or just easier and more forgiving.

Yes. 👍

Despite being a secondary trainer, the T-38 is well known to have unforgiving (I.e., fatal) handling characteristics, especially when slow.

It is an aircraft where the pilot absolutely must not get behind the performance curve for any reason.

Blackbird nee MilViz produced a version for the IRL USAF/USN training programs back in the P3D days, and it was reputed to be highly accurate (even having a “CFD-ish” external flight model).

So…tho this is only a $15 Frequent Flyer, I’m betting there’s a good amount of the Hi Fi DNA from the P3D version baked in to it.

In contrast, my understanding of the IRL BAe Hawk is that it’s a “proper” secondary trainer and is well behaved while still being an actual Fast Jet. For e.g., the USN selected it as their primary aircraft carrier training aircraft. Anything filling that role has to be relatively well behaved when low and slow.

The v2 version recently released by JF had a significant makeover to the FM and really handles much better than v1 did.
not sure it’s exactly accurate, but it does seem  representative.

anyhow, just my 2cts and not trying to convince anyone to buy it.

for me, at $15 and with the MilViz pedigree, it’s a No Brainer purchase. 🤙

Graphics and sounds go solidly to the BB version, particularly in the cockpit.

AD’s are good, but they’re just not at the same level as BB’s.

to a certain extent, this was kinda to be expected as BB have clearly leveraged the VERY detailed modeling developed for the $60 Professional version from P3D.

I didn’t fly near the edge of the flight envelope in any regard, so I can’t comment there just yet.
though both addons gave clear FM feedback in the pattern where you’re naturally slow.

It seems like both addons have representative flight models, each displaying the various quirks of aircraft like this.
There are noticeable differences, tho.
Both fly “well”, IMHO, especially for the low price.

The main difference is, of course, that the AD version includes the Charlie model as well as the Alpha model as with BB’s.

AFAIK, AD have done a rather good job on re-creating the completely non-standard and complex glass avionics for the C. As IRL, they have very little in common with civilian aircraft avionics of any type.
which makes sense as it’s a combat trainer prepping pilots for fighter jets. In that regard, the avionics line up pretty well for that type of aviation.

So IMHO, the only reason to spend the extra money to get the AD version is if you’re specifically interested in the modern Charlie avionics (and keeping in mind how proprietary they are vs Civ aircraft).

If the AD version weren’t available, I’d be VERY satisfied with the BB version

What it will come down to for me is that I’ll most likely fly the BB Alpha for anything where Steam Gauge nav will get the job done

and, of course, the AD Charlie when I want to dig in to those very detailed and interesting modern avionics

realistically, I bet I’ll use the BB quite a bit more often

No regrets and I’m happy to have purchased both. Would buy both again ❤️👍

Much appreciated!

Dave

TBH, most of the liveries seem off to one degree or another.

I’m betting we get some accurate ones from the various livery guys 🙏

To maintain 300kts in the infinity T38A and C requires 63-64% on the engines , just tried the same flight in the BB T38A and that required 85% , a big difference, and 85% seems a little high to me

That’s a good catch!

now that you bring it up (and Bob confirmed), 60-ish % is roughly idle thrust for many of the mil fast jet addons I have.

Yes, when I tried to  set 63% on the BB for comparison the throttles were visually just off idle.

It’s a little disappointing where a product, not just this one (infinity), is described as having input from type rated pilots.

I’ve no doubt it has , they’re not making it up , but it seems most pilots have little time or interest in flight simulation and probably at best just give it a cursory look over and say that looks about right.

Of course there are also examples of the exact opposite where type rated pilots and owners have given fanatical feedback on simulations.

On infinity’s T38 you tube videos there’s a female voice over who I’m presuming is either a real world T38 instructor or student, she certainly sounds knowledgeable and passionate about the aircraft.

I’m surprised she didn’t spot the power being way off if she was involved in testing as pitch power setting are usually very familiar to typed pilots.

Out of the 2 though the stall characteristics of the infinity T38 seem more inline with pilot reports I’ve read, in that it stays at a fairly level pitch attitude and doesn’t drop the nose, but the ROD silently accelerates and it drops like a brick.

The new BB T38 doesn’t have the wing rocking that their P3D version has approaching the stall , maybe as it’s a famous flyer it’s been tamed for mass public consumption?

I wonder what took her so long!

Nice to have a free trial though.

KEDW here I come.

T-38As are no longer at KEDW. Only Cs.

For Mx, that transition was the worst. 8 years of repairing AETC's worst performers.

Too bad. Does the Infinity one have it?

Oh no, I'd better erase that from my flight log 😮

I wouldn't! Just helping those with a fascination (obsession?) for realism. Otherwise please enjoy....those As should still be there!

I decided to buy it thanks largely to UrgentSiesta's input. Flew it from KNID quite a bit today (hope that's ok). I'm better at it today than I was yesterday I think.
