Too bad. Does the Infinity one have it?

No.

T-38s never had AP’s, and both Infinity and BB have chosen to keep their jets realistic there.

Same thing with the various T-6 Texan II’s

you have to understand that these training aircraft are for training pilots how to actually fly an aircraft. 😎An AP is antithetical to that purpose

So if you want a fast jet with an AP, best to get one of the better modern mil jet front line tactical jets as they almost all have APs to one degree or another

BUT understand ALSO that most of the IRL APs in tactical jets are very “basic”.  I.e., many times it’s only heading, altitude, and attitude hold.
The modern ones can many times follow a flight plan, but the waypoints aren’t ICAO - just “random” GPS / MGRS coordinates that are mission specific and have nothing to do with civil airways.

And forget about VNAV 😁

That said, some of the mil addons have various workarounds for the sake of flight sim convenience. eg the JF Hawk has an Alt & Heading in the tablet. Similarly, the TMS F-22 has a hidden G1000 interface click spot

Caveat Emptor, YMMV, etc… 🤙

320 is always so glass half full, positive, unflappable, sunny side up that it really ****** me off!

Just kidding, of course!🤣

I really like that despite being an IRL experienced aviation expert, he just doesn’t sweat the small stuff.

I giggle when one of the popular reviewers says it is not as in depth because it is a famous flyer. Its a T38 A with steam gauges and no fly by wire or auto pilot.... Doesnt get any more raw of an experience than that

Only watched video, but of note, it wing rocked when trying to rotate too early, rumbled when pulling gs/high AoA, and looked difficult to trim. That is how the advanced version was for P3D. By the eye test, it looks better than the Aerodynamics to me. The sound is clearly better than aerodynamics, as it matches rpms well.

I'm doing the free trial ATM. First flight was very nice! Brings back good memories of the FSX version. I may spring for this one too... who doesn't need more T-38s? 😁 QUESTIONS: Is there documentation for this release? I'm having an issue with the nose wheel steering. I have a control configured on my stick, I can see the button depressed in the VC and here the click, but the steering doesn't engage. Thoughts?

Edit... Nose wheel steering works until I depress the NWS button. Then it appears to be brokken for good. Hmmmm...

I read your description on flightsim.to

(NASA) some common ones are N955, 917, 961, 921, 918, 960, 923, 915, 909, 908. From flight aware

From photograph, 912, 901, 902, 962, 959, 906, 913, 910, 967, 964, 963, 958, 904, 924, 962, 959, 960, the ones at talon park 900, 968, and i think a 969 on display somewhere. Im sure there are others, ive believe they have/had like 34 T38s. This is 30 of them here. For the tail # dont include the 9. So N917 would have just a 17 on the tail.

The free trial feature on the 2024 marketplace was a pretty good idea

Thanks. I will surely check out the (1-day) Free trial...for myself. The cockpit looks nice and weathered.

So, no AP at all i.e., no (basic) HDG hold nor ALT hold functions...as I understand...but again that would be antithetical to the purpose of this a/c...

You aren't really going to be airborne for long enough to need autopilot.

I was telling UrgentSiesta a couple of days ago, on another post, that, once upon a time, I would often fly the (FSX) VRS F/A-18 on civilian missions…a trip from Chicago to South Bend, IN…🙂

A civilian summer at heart here, even with military aircraft…so, an AP helps a bit…if available…but not mandated…

Well, to be clear, I personally do NOT mind having a fake autopilot available (a la how Just Flight provides in both their Hawk and Arrows). I also think the hidden G1000 in the Top Mach Studios fighter jets is a boon for flight sim usability. 😃👍

At the same time, I totally understand & accept why certain devs choose not to implement one if the IRL aircraft didn't have it.

The good thing about no AP in a Hi Fi stick-n-rudder addon with a good flight model is that it really forces you to balance trim AND thrust to maintain level flight. Little bit of this, little bit of that. Figuring out the level off procedures to hit a desired altitude without ballooning above or exceeding desired speed, cutting the corner on waypoints to stay on track, and all that jazz...

Nothing wrong with AP's, AT's and VNAV, because you can learn a LOT by watching how the FMS handles all that. But it's fun once in awhile to force yourself to do it by hand - and if there are no Pilot Relief systems, then you're forced to do it now instead of "next time" 😁

It's ALWAYS fun to blast around at full AB, but the aircraft does have about 3hrs endurance and 900mi range.

I only use it for flights around an hour of flight time (which is pretty much what all my flights in all aircraft are...), and I frequently think how convenient it'd be to flip over to the Longitude while at cruise 😁
