I may spring for this one too... who doesn't need more T-38s? 😁 QUESTIONS: Is there documentation for this release? I'm having an issue with the nose wheel steering. I have a control configured on my stick, I can see the button depressed in the VC and here the click, but the steering doesn't engage. Thoughts? Edit... Nose wheel steering works until I depress the NWS button. Then it appears to be brokken for good. Hmmmm... You'll have to check with control bindings. I haven't bothered yet... On the Aero Dynamics version they handled it with an "external" binding in their Infinity app. You seem to know, but proper operation is NWS active while the button is held, and free caster when released. I'd see exactly what the in-game binding action is actually doing (sounds like a toggle/switch instead of momentary). ETA: i had a quick peek at the BBS T-6 II user guide and they also enabled proper NWS via a control over-ride in their EFB. I'll take an in-sim look at the BB T-38 later on to see if I can figure it out. Edited January 30Jan 30 by UrgentSiesta
January 30Jan 30 Just completed the classic KEFD to KTTS flight by the book. Excellent flight. Fuel consumption seems right on target. Got this reply back on the MSFS official forums: JayDee6281Verified Forum 3rd Party Dev 42m At the moment there is no working ingame NWS Binding for that bird. The “Set NWS Limit” just triggers animation but not the actual limit. If this is a bug or a limitation is hard to say. At the moment you need to Click the Button with Mouse/Controller or use an external script to trigger the B Event: (>B:SS_IE_BASE_T38A_Button_Nosewheel_Steering_Toggle) Cheers IDK if JayDee is a BBS dev, but at least he's a verified dev! It's rather disappointing when stuff like this happens. Similar to the Direct Lift Controls on the XP F-14 Tomcat - it's sorta there like they intended to add it, but never bothered to finish it. TBH, i'd have been happy to spend the extra $5 to get it 😉 I wasn't able to get it working any further than getting NWS to disengage. It does work just fine with the mouse, which is something. But not a real solution for anything beyond an "oopsie" disengage... Anyone know anything about invoking the above referenced script from a joystick toggle? i'm not too keen on that kind of stuff, but if it can be done in the sim, then i might be willing to give it a try. Well there if is then. Agreed, a bit disappointing. I suspect it's a dangling bit that got missed while stripping down the model from an earlier incarnation. My appreciation for chasing this down! January 31Jan 31 well had my first run around the block with it last night - did a x country with the upper air work along the way - only managed to kill myself once - with a very optermistic loop at too high an altitude - really enjoyed it - then being a glutton for punishment I went & flew an ILS approach - just love the big & clear FAI & DI - just so easy to see - the big problem I faced was trying to get all the power settings, speeds & attitudes right - all in all it wasn't a disaster (one dot low & one dot wide at the minima) - but I'll certainly be going back & doing more ILS approaches in it untill I get the speeds etc nailed - conclusion - great fun Rattso Cooler Master Cosmos 700M - MSI Godlike X (Devillike!!) - AMDD Ryzen 9 9950X3D (water cooled) - 128gb Corsair Vengeance 5200 D5 - ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Liquid OC GDDR7 32GB - EVGA 2000W P/S - Creative AE-7 - intel Optane 500gb - 3x 2tb M2 SSDs - 2x 2tb Samsung EVO SSDs - 1x Hybrid 2tb HDD - Brunner CLS-63E Joystick - Honeycombe Bravo quadrant - Brunner CLS-B rudder pedals - Samsung Odessey Ark 55" - G9 49" monitor

February 3Feb 3 I decided to go with the Aero Dynamics version in the end. It's got a bit more complexity, which is up my alley, includes the C model, seems to fly better in terms of not being over powered and fuel burn from what i can read (obviously I'm not a T-38 pilot) and has far more liveries. Also I saw a stall in a YouTube video where the nose came down whereas I understand the T-38 will not drop the nose, but instead will fall flat in a stall. The one area where the Blackbird version wins without a doubt is the sound pack. That's no contest so hopefully that's an area for improvement with the Aero Dynamics version going forward. Overall I'm happy with my purchase. If the AD version didn't exist, I'd be happy with the Blackbird version, it's good to have choice. TBH, the Blackbird version is only CAD$16 with my discount so I might end up picking it up as well depending what kind of updates are released for it. February 3Feb 3 Honestly I’ve read so much directly conflicting information on the T-38 I’m not sure what to believe. February 3Feb 3 Given Blackbird's history with the T38 (don't forget they have an US Airforce contract for a T38C simulator trainer), I believe they have the more accurate flight model. None the less, the AD release is solid and comprehensive... I bought BOTH. February 12Feb 12 Decided to give MSFS 2024 a try on xbox series s, and man what an awesome decision that was. The game runs very well considering all the updates since release, and with photogeometry turned on. The Blackbird T38 causes zero issues to frame rate. She flies fantastic, did one free trial and was sold.
March 5Mar 5 Plane taught me a valuable pilot lesson. The pitot tube at altitude displays IAS! But the mach number takes calibrations from the pitot tube and static port to give you TAS! I thought i was flying super slow, but then it was reading mach 0.90-0.95. Ah be darn pitot tube cant display TAS in less dense air. Took me awhile to figure out how to do long hauls properly and convert IAS to TAS at altitude.
March 19Mar 19 Running into a weird bug where if i start on a custom start spot the landing gear wont fully extend. if i start in a parking spot cold and dark or on the runway ready to go everything works fine. Only if i try to start ready to go or cold and dark from a custom spot. I dont get three greens and the gear comes out halfway. Also the emergency gear handle does not do anything, so you're pretty limited. Not the biggest deal in the world, but did take me awhile to pinpoint it being related to custom position start.
March 19Mar 19 Quick follow up, all bugs reported and fixes must come from microsoft. Slight bummer of it being a "first party" product An update is coming soon, but i guess report bugs to msfs team? Edited March 19Mar 19 by Sweetd31
