February 9Feb 9 I found this May 1993 article from the APOA Pilot magazine online this morning. A great read and talks about the changes made when Beechcraft modified their original Starship 2000 and created the 2000A. 199305-1993 Beech 2000A Starship.pdf Tom
February 9Feb 9 It's such a cool plane! I've seen one IRL at Oshkosh a few years ago. It did a fly by and then later I watched them tow it to parking with the homebuits over by the RVs. When I worked in Duluth as a controller I also got to take a tour inside a parked one. It's actually the one on the cover of that article! (And painted so exquisitely by @Tim-HH in its newest colors at flightsim.to)! Nick's rendition is just incredible as well. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
February 9Feb 9 Yep, such a cool plane, it brought me back to MSFS. I should fly it more often, I haven't touched it in a few months 🙂

February 9Feb 9 Nice but niche. I find I don't fly it too much. 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base
February 9Feb 9 Thanks for this. I've been flying Starship a ton lately. Such a wonderful plane. I have yet to find a cockpit I enjoy more than this one, especially in VR.
February 9Feb 9 Author Not that I'm a pilot IRL (I'm just plane crazy), but the Starship has been a favorite of mine for many years. I'd love the chance to see one up close if opportunity ever presented itself. The article made me wonder what one would cost today if it was worth 4.7M in 1993....🤔 Tom
February 9Feb 9 Certainly in my top group of favorites. I usually cycle thru about 4 flights before moving on to the next aircraft, but it's hard to stop flying the Starship! I find myself doing 5-6 flights instead and having to force myself to move on... Randall Rocke

I saw one cruise overhead many years ago. Was overjoyed to recognize that distinctive planform! IIRC, it had caught my ear with a very distinctive sound - quite different than other twin TPs.
February 9Feb 9 One of my favorite planes and BSQ NEVER disappoints. Though I can effectively land 95% of all aircraft in MSFS, the Starship gets away from me a bit at less than 100 feet from touchdown as the rudder/pedal inputs seem slow and it seems really floaty. Could be a calibration issue with my pedals? The location of the Garmin is a pain in the butt as so low in the center console, even with TrackIR. Seriously considering a hardware solution (like the RealSimGear Garmin panel) just for this plane. But otherwise, amazing plane with solid view from the cockpit. Yeah I had asked for TDS gtn 650xi integration when Tim and I were looking at it in beta. But I knew that kinda took away from the character. Imo I'd just skip the GNS completely and use the FMS. You can use shortcuts and just type on your keyboard for flight plan entering. I think you just click on the screen to do that if I recall. Or just fly it with VOR and NDB. Or the Omega if you really want pain hahaha. I don't have the landing issues though. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
February 10Feb 10 Garmins get old to me. So many planes can integrate them that I feel like I'm doing the same thing every time. I love being able to go between planes like the Starship, BAE 146, and F28 to have a variety. I can enter a flight plan really dang quickly, even in VR, just using the kybd shortcut. Even entering waypoints for a STAR/APP as I'm in cruise is a quick process. I don't mind modern avionics, but the last thing I want to do is shoehorn them into my lovely, well-patinaed cockpit. I'd do it IRL for safety, but in sim it feels wrong. To each their own, of course, we all have fun our own ways. As for landing, I also don't have issues. Don't try to flare, for sure. The article mentions that it's a much more nose-down landing, which I found out the hard way while flying it.

Yea, the native flight planning and autopilot in the Starship at first seemed intimidating but it is pretty easy to use so I do use that. I hear ya on the Garmin stuff. Kinda a "mood" quality of life thing where I'm just feelin' garmin avionics and flight planning. Some days in the mood for BAe 146 (amazing plane and systems), but other days I want to be lazy and gravitate towards EZ mode garmin stuff.
