Downloading over 500GB of data

BTW in which folder is the downloaded stored as I would like to delete it.

My downloads section seems to be  a mess of partially segmented files that refuse to install.

The only solution to the bad photogrammetry is to turn photogrammetry off.  Every single place I've ever tested looks better with autogen.  I don't know why MS/Asobo even bothers with the photogrammet

Hi, Very early results, I like what I'm seeing. I have 2024 running full blast above Ultra with sliders full right. "with Photogrammetry" For me, this is a keeper.

Hi,

I don't run a 3D flight deck so take my "VERY EARLY" results with a grain of salt. The sim seems smoother and building popping is all but gone. But I noticed something I wasn't expecting, the ground textures are MUCH SHARPER! This is very noticable on my three 75" tv's.

This is only my first quick run out of Newark New Jersey, I want to hit RJTT for additional testing.

So far I like what I'm seeing.

"THIS IS WITHOUT PHOTOGRAMMETRY"

UPDATE: I've also been able to increase my sliders to full right on ultra. - I do see tree popping, buildings not so much anymore.

I'm keen to hear how you go, but in my experience the metled photogammetry isn't as a result of internet speed....its something internal to how the system is processing the data. I've got a rolling cache set at 128GB and can flow over the same parts of a PG area all day long, with the Dev FPS Counter showing no downloading is occuring, just reading the rolling cache...and guess what, still melted photogammatry.

The downloads should be in your packages sub folder.

I agree, I've seen items that never clear up no mater how long I wait. This setup now seems to have reduced the loading time of the photogrammetry data being sent, only conclusion is... it's not sending all the data I now have on my hard drive along with the photogrammetry.

Going full download minus photogrammetry has given me sharper ground images with just about all the surrounding building no longer popping into view, I still see tree popping though!

Is SU5 Beta necessary for the download?

If you don't have the download option in "My Library" then you'll have to update. I've never taken any beta downloads, so I had to update and join their insider program.

Mike:

Interesting exercise.

I watched the video with your PG enabled downloaded data. Yes, I don’t see any popping (or melting) of the buildings, especially the taller ones, as you flew up close over them.

So, you downloaded a total data of 500GB? What regions of the World scenery does it include?

As I understand, the total (MSFS2024) World scenery data runs into petabytes (PB) range. So, does it limit the World regions you can fly in?

I fly around Denver, KBJC and the PG looks great on a 20mbs data line and a 64gb roaming cache.  Things look great.  Am I missing out?

I believe the petabytes amount of data is where photogrammetry comes into play, but I could be wrong. I took everything worldwide that I could find that was being streamed via 2024.

OK Mike, You have me convinced.  10 Terabytes of PCMIA  is doable for me.

Thanks much.

Tomorrow a petabyte of storage will cost nothing.

BTW, what are we missing out on exactly? Is MSFS broken right now?

A 64gb roaming cache will solve any data problems.  PG or otherwise.
