Thanks so much - this is priceless for me... I will get to work and start adopting these procedures!

My issue tends to be that I start to lose speed and altitude on approach (let's say 1000', configured for landing).  My natural response is to push the power forward and when nothing initially happens when I do that, I tend to push it further!  Combine that with a pitch correction on the elevator and...... well you can guess what happens next, I start to climb out like I'm doing a full power go-around!! 😄  So then I start to do the opposite to address this new problem; power back (way too far no doubt), yoke forward.

My attempts are the very definition of PIOs.   PIOs in slow motion but very definitel PIOs!

Thanks again.

Yeah, with the MD11 and the DC10, you have to anticipate and stay ahead of the jet. For speed changes, we used two techniques in the DC10. 10% of gross weight + 23 for approach. So for 400K lb

  • Like most of you, I own just about every payware tubeliner there is out there and ever since the new version came out for this, it is a struggle to tear my self away from this one to fly another.... T

  • Plenty. You will not be disappointed. Blue skies, -B

Okay the 777F seems pretty boring. Does this thing have character? Soul?

I'm very interrested by this aircraft in the future.

I hold the purchase many time because I read many critics about the quality.

How it is now since the upgrade patch? Do you guys recommand it?

Thanks

You hold off because someone says so? OK! Quality is right up there!

The 777 has been largely parked for me since the 2024 version of the MD11 was released.

Small update released

As a follow-up, (no ping as it's minor), we've released MD-11 version 1.1.19. The changes are as follows:

## 1.1.19 (25 February 2026)
- 🔧 **FIXED** - Default position of INT/RADIO switch
- 🔧 **FIXED** - Default position of WXR GAIN knob
- 🔧 **FIXED** - No WXR buttons being depressed by default

This add on is the sweet spot between kind of older and newer technology.

Yep. I held off on this for quite sometime, thinking I’m more of a modern airliners person. This thing blew me away. First time a heavy aircraft actually feels heavy.

I also highly recommend the extended simulation with failures. My previous landing was fairly heavy. When I started the thing up today, I had a tire low pressure and needed a tire change!

Absolutely brilliant.

I enjoy flying both as they are both awesome to fly. They both have a unique way of flying, handling and landing. Glad to have both long hauler in 2024.

My favorite plane and one of the Best addons. Only one big minus for me is touchdown it dosent feel immersive at all. It feel just like prepar3d. Does anyone feel the same? After i moved from 2020 to 2024 My honeycomb bravo autopilot buttons dont work with this plane they work In all other planes except fenix.  And triller dont work on departure. triller moves In cockpit but front wheel does not turn. After landing it work fine. Triller and honeycomb problem was before and after Last update

The MD-11 uses a fully custom autopilot, which is why the Bravo (which uses native MSFS assignments) won't work out of the box.

The MD-11 does install it's own SDK though, which can be read by AAO, meaning assignment can be done using that utility.

PS.. it's "tiller", not "triller" 🙂

The DC10 definitely had some personality during touchdown. You would get the initial touch down shake when firm, but you would get the oscillating side to side shakes if your were not aligned with the runway at touch down. The more aligned you were the more subtle the side to side shakes were. The most notable things were the sounds. There were plenty of shakes, squeaks, rattles and creaks you would hear during touch down. You would hear them with bumps during taxi and when picking up speed on takeoff. The rougher the runway, the louder it would be. The cockpit was so quiet that you would hear all of these noises.

Throttle Knob widths for speed changes. From the front to the back of a throttle head is the knob width. So you make changes that way based on the rate of speed change. If your approach speed is slowly decaying, you move all three half a knob width forward and wait. If the rate is a little faster than slowly decaying, you will use a full knob width on all three. So, you get the point. One last thing for the knob width technique is to take half of that input out once the jet has corrected. If you used a full knob width to correct, once back at speed, take half back out. The knob width technique keeps you from yo yoing the throttles with the slow reactance to thrust changes. The heavier she is, the less reactive she is. You perfect this technique during air refueling in the KC10.

Thanks for your input; it will be very useful. Only one question:do you remember how long is the throttle travel, measured in throttle knob widhts? This is because my VKB THQ has only 6 knob widths of travel, and I believe I'll need to divide your tips in two. I mean, instead of moving a full knob, I move it half

Hmm, the width was an inch. Based on the range markers, they appear to be marked in inch increments. That would be about a 6 inch travel range.
