I am never buying another Carenado!  After this one.

I feel like every post about Carenado becomes a promotion for Black Sqaure. 😀

That is hardly a fair statement relative to this vendor.  Like many others posting here, I've purchased my fair share of Carenado planes, and I've done so knowing that they're "light" from a systems p

Now, taking the B200 for a spin around Germany, Bundesrepublik Deutschland from one of the airfields close to Aerosoft Stuttgart EDDS, EDST – Hahnweide that's in the Aerosoft Airfields Stuttgart pack.

Wished Carenado would bring us some sort of Simbrief integration with their planes but anyhow, picked up the B200 on the Marketplace.

How does she handle?

Flying the HJET these days but looking for a fun twin.  May give her a go tomorrow.

I ended up buying it cause mostly I wanted to paint it lol.

It's the typical Carenado, except with seemingly less bugs than normal (surprising I know).  There is one annoying one so far - at least flying with the TDS GTNxi.  As soon as I engage APR mode while on a GPS approach, the needles switch to VLOC hehe.  I had to press the GTNxi's CDI button again to switch to GPS needles and it continued on the approach.  It even shows the LPV GP!  Their last few planes haven't been doing that at all.  The AP operation isn't true to the real one but it's the usual.  Dial the new altitude, press ALT SEL, press VS and then click the DN or UP rocker switch to change vertical speed.  The CLB and DSC modes actually do work.   I didn't try an ILS yet.  I'm curious what would happened if I press APR mode when already in VLOC hehe.

The flight model I'm not a fan of.  There is a weird yaw moment during a bank... it's almost like when you're flying irl and you don't add rudder... but in this case when I add rudder it seems so sensitive that it doesn't matter how much or how little I add, the plane yaws around like two balls trying to balance on each other.  It's hard to explain but annoying.  It could use a CanadianCaptainMustache mod hehe.  I don't have any king air 200 time - hopefully somewhere here does and can chime in.  Otherwise it just feels too pitch sensitive (like most MSFS addons imo).  Outside of beta range it propels me forward and I have to use the brakes to slow down during taxi.  I THINK that's normal.  So I tried taxiing in beta and it sort of worked.  It's just super touchy I had to find the right spot to set the power levers.  Steering is also super sensitive...  I need to use very gentle presses on my pedals while taxiing.  I have not yet tried landing in a crosswind...  I need to do that soon.  I do think the cruise speed TAS and fuel flow is pretty close to book values...gotta track down some tables.  edit:  flight model thing I wanted to add - it's super hard to slow this thing down especially when already in a descent.  AFAIK irl, the massive props when fully forward create a nice natural speed brake.  Also the gear down speed is just under 200 but the gear physically won't drop under like 175... so that's weird.  I've seen that in other addons too.

Startup and sounds....  a far cry from Boris/Echo19/Sim Acoustics et al.  I'd say they are very generic turboprop carenado sounds in general.  It would be fun to combine this with the turbine duke sounds or something similar.

Visuals... nuff said there.  Carenado is almost the nicest general aviation texture crew out there.  3DReach used to make their stuff but I believe Carenado does it all in house now.  I actually think FSW (who also uses 3DR) might have a slight leg up - maybe it's the weathering - just a touch nicer.  But this King Air 200 is of extremely high clarity both inside and out.

You basically get a typical interior and also a medivac option.  I didn't try to add passengers.  It supports the PMS and TDS GTN/GTNxi along with the WT GNS.  Be advised only the GTN 750/750Xi is supported...no crossfill this time (sad face).

Here's some 4k shots (I only run 1440p but I generated some 4k from dev mode to show it off) - it's got Dynamic Registration so you can enter your own tail number.  This paint also has a left wing underside registration.

Would love for Carenado to enlist Boris or Echo19 for nicer soundsets for their planes.

Same here. Tried mixture, condition lever assignments, nothing. Honeycomb bravo. Anyone else with this figure it out? I did a very short flight and found the model not too bad, with some tweaks for sensitivity required. I do think at idle there is waaaay too much thrust being produced. But the beta is effective. Brakes feel very “grabby” and will give the pilot and passengers whiplash. Sounds are okay, pretty standard Carenado fare. I just needed some filler until blacksquare gets here with theirs since I think that is still quite a ways off. My suggestion is get the carenado in a sale it would be okay. But let’s just say they are maintaining their “business model” of half baked aircraft. I know it gets stated every time but with years of experience you would think someone working there would say “let’s get a couple of great systems and flight modelling people on board and become a premiere addon maker, making more money.” My god even try that with one aircraft as an experiment. It’s weird they have such diligence and expertise in physical modelling and textures but so don’t care about anything else. I guess it’s an idea of what’s the minimum work to make money. Not everyone in the hobby works from passion I guess.

Just not gonna do it. I've managed to resist their last couple of offerings and the world has not stopped turning.

I'll be picking up the 2024 Kodiak from JustFlight when it arrives there and that will be my GA hit for Spring....hopefully 🙃
