I DO think ground handling in '24 is improved over '20, but I had high expectations and in this case better still isn't as good as I'd like so that's where the frustration comes from. Likely comes down to the aircraft and if they're taking advantage of 2024's ground handling features in their FM config (since it's opt-in), and also how well and what customizations have been done. The only two aircraft in the default fleet AFAIK that fully (or mostly) use the 2024 FDE and ground handling features are the C172 (G1000 version) and another one I forget now. What aircraft do you fly? How do you find the C172's ground handling in 2024 vs 2020 for example? I have no issues taxiing any of my Black Square planes. Don't know about big iron as I don't fly it. When I reference ground handling, I'm mainly talking about touchdown/rollout after a crosswind landing as demonstrated in the video previously mentioned. 8 hours ago, tttocs said: The second has to do with persistence, particularly with Black Square aircraft. An update on this. Someone on the Black Square forums offered a workaround that purports to eliminate most of the persistence issues in Black Square planes, and so far it seems to work. Exit a flight normally after completion, but before shutting down the sim go back and reload the plane you just flew and then exit again and then shut the sim down. Most things now seem to persist - fuel, covers, aircraft hours on the Hobbs... weirdly, everything I've checked except wheel chocks. Hopefully this will also mitigate any potential issues with the timing "clock" for MTBF failures. A bit of a pain, but worth it to me. YMMV as always. Scott

Scott Yes, there's a big difference in how the 172 handles vs some of the other planes. Same with airliners.. some just feel right, some feel slippery. I do agree that it's likely possible to get better ground handling (as there are planes that do it really well), but devs/Asobo/someone needs to make it so that it's true across the board. Might just be one of those things that improves over time as more and more devs update the planes. 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen

Thought I was missing something big time. 🙂 And yes, if KBKV is your home airport we're definitely in the same neighborhood, though I'm a bit closer to KCGC. KCGC is 11 miles north of me while KBKV is about 22 miles SSE in highway miles. Moved here 2 years ago from my longtime home in Colorado after being one of those dreaded snowbirds to the area for about 5 years following retirement. Scott

I've always wanted to live down there. I guess there are hurricanes and gators (and crocs!) but the warmth and beaches we really enjoy hehe. March 18Mar 18 Additionally, nose wheel steering is not implemented well in the sim eg. a keyboard shortcut for steer lock is not available. Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space. Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

Coquina Beach and the beach market there are favorites of ours when I build up the patience to venture through the Tampa - St. Pete maze that's between us and the island. Unfortunately if you haven't been in a while, it took some big hits in the '24 hurricane season. Yep, plenty of 'gators but don't bother them and they won't bother you. No crocs near us, or Anna Maria Island for that matter. They don't venture much north of the Everglades. 14 minutes ago, CFIJose said: I'm just a few miles from Weeki Wachee Springs. I always think that it is too easy to move the nose wheel left and right on the runway when accelerating for take off (a bit like the caster wheels on a shopping trolley). I really wish that Asobo would sort that out. It is sorted out, but not implemented on all of their airplanes. Just a few developers got it right, while the majority are behind the curve. The entries that need to be adjusted are: ground_high_speed_steeringwheel_static_friction_scalar ground_high_speed_otherwheel_static_friction_scalar 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
