He did let someone know, apprently the CAP MC (his friend) and other friends in the area.

Saw an article on Yahoo. Apparently Amazon.com has a service called "Mechanical Turk". This allows users to log in and identify objects in pictures that computers have a hard time looking for. A friend of mine works for C.A.P. out of Minden-Tahoe. Learned yesterday he is involved in the search when he forwarded pictures of some of the terrain. Although I lived in the search area back in the 90's, his pics were the first I've seen from the perspective of a light aircraft. Only then did I realize the challenge of this search. It's sobering, but I hope they find something, to bring some sort of closure to those involved. I still keep hoping Steve shows up at some local casino saying "got tired of waiting for you guys". It's nice to hope for, anyway.John
