Yes. But there's no downsides to a marketplace release, and you can always get your purchase transferred to the ini manager once it releases.

The good thing about MP is you are supporting MSFS going forward.  Besides, you don't need to put stuff in the community folder.  There are advantages to keeping it empty. dd

iniManager release follows at a later date, right?

That is THE argument for me to buy it on the MP if I want it soon. Because I was not aware this is easily possible when they released the A340 the same way and by the time it came to the iniManager, my initial interest was gone and I still do not own the plane. Because I avoid buying via MP as much as possible, even though it would be more convenient to have everything in there, I simply cant stand the long update delays and the fact that everything is non-modifiable (although I rarely modify anything 😉 ).

Advantage of waiting to the release via iniManager: the product most probably already got the first few patches 😉

Well apart from encouraging more companies to take the money from MS and provide an exclusivity period on the marketplace

I generally avoid the marketplace but I bought the A340 there and updates came regularly - though I suppose if it’s not available anywhere else you have nothing to compare the update timing too.

Once it was available at inibuilds I easily transferred my purchase over.

All that to say the initial marketplace exclusivity is not a reason for me to avoid buying the aircraft.

I had some issues in FS2020 with marketplace purchase going through and found it I bought the credits in steam first, then did the purchase, I had no further issues.  I’ve been successfully using this practice in 2024 as well.

While I dislike the marketplace. I don't necessarily see the problem here.

  • MS provides financial stimulus to ini which benefits us as it keeps these dev companies alive.
  • Ini has proven quick to update the A340 whilst it was on the marketplace
  • Once the exclusivity period is over you can transfer your purchase free of charge.

I really do struggle to see the downsides here for all parties involves. If other developers can maintain these 3 points then I don't mind if more of them do exclusivity deals. It's very different to console exclusives where there's no chance of me getting a particular game on PC.

What about the Marketplace does not provide detail receipt on what was purchased/

The advantage of a marketplace is also that you don't have to download the aircraft and just can stream it.

The absolute disadvantage is that you can´t share them between Steam FS24 or MS FS24 in the future, nothing like external shops deals for me, and more fair in payments always.

But is great that this add-on will be released very soon, right? MP or INI store, will be a insta buy for me.

The problem is that the marketplace offers a really poor experience to customers and the more customners are pushed to buy from there, the more that poor experience is normalised.

I'm happy to wait for it to come for direct sale from INI.

I personally sometimes make occassional tweaks to some files, and those files aren't available through a MP purchase.
My personal strategy is that I prefer to buy scenery on the MP - I experience no downsides to that, but I will almost never buy addon aircraft from the MP because of the point mentioned above, and certainly historically at least, slow update management.

Choice is the spice of life. I take no issue with INI selling with MP exclusivity at first. I am comfortable waiting - I have a dozen or more fantastic aircraft to fly in the sim.

ini chose to put the A340 and now the Tristar on the MP for the anti-piracy measures. Microsoft didn't pay them.

They mentioned that in the live stream.
