Possible?

Hey all, new guy here and I've been into the FS scene for awhile now most recently Falcon 4, I bought FS2002 about a month and a half ago and it's about all I do now. Once I realized the add on possiblities within FS02 I've been tinkering with the idea of making my own aircraft, once I saw a picture of a Lancair I knew I wanted to make my own aircraft. But are there factors which would preclude me from making an acurate model? I ask this because (To my dismay) there are no FS2002 Lancairs available, to my knowledge at least. I guess the main reason for my concern is I don't want to get haf way into something and find out this or that can't be modeled correctly. I plan on using GMAX 1.2 and I am having difficulty finding 3 view background files but I do have a nice side view. Officially I'm looking at the Lancair IV unless I'm unable to find sufficient views. Sure I have many newbi questions concerning GMAX and basic modeling but I've yet to exhaust the numerous FAQ's on the subject. Any and all suggestions and/or comments would be welcomed. I just want to know if this little project would be viable.Thanks.Kind Regards, Tim

hi,As far as Im concerned, You are only limited by your own abilities and imagination. Sure some corners need to be cut at times and trade offs must be made to ensure smooth framerates. As you progress as a modeler youll become familiar with the FS engine and what is possible. Im not familiar with that particular plane, but I cant see why you would not be able to create an accurate visual model with gmax, given a solid grasp of the process...however a nice looking model is but half the battle. Flight Dynamics, a decent texture job, a panel, sounds and on and on and on...enjoy the journey!odog

or, more properly, to correct odog's statement - "Welcome to the insanity" ... as in all hobbies, it's enjoyable, frustrating, and in the end, when you're flying "your" model, your "rock".I still find a little thrill when I get past a hurdle ("everyone else is doing it, why doesn't it work for me!") and something I've read in one of these Design Forums makes it click.

Yes I've already noticed the addictive qualities of modeling and thanks to you both for your response. I kinda figured the answer to my question would go along the lines of "The truth is out there".I guess then my only problem now is the 3 views that and the fact that I'm real green in the modeling department. Again thanks fellas for the input. Regards,Tim
