Regardless of what a few misguided people think, PMDG produces premium products.

Except for when they charge for code that is re-hashed from years ago. NOW they are making it right, but only after customer feedback. They realize that if they don't do it then they will vanish. Like I said in the other similar PMDG thread - at least they are releasing something..unlike ifly and the JF Fokker. I'll give PMDG that..

Just because MSFS 2024 is a "new" sim, that does not mean that developers can (or should) re-write every bit of code "from the ground up". The data structures and classes that define the internal oper

Nobody uses P3D anymore, and according to PMDG, nobody is buying their 2020 addons, so they stopped developing for it.     ini doesn’t build anything for 2020 anymore, the 350 was the last one,

Question: are you somehow privy to how much “copy & paste” code they’re using to make that assertion…? do you feel the same way about iFly…? If not, then why…? How about Leonardo’s paid

Question: are you somehow privy to how much “copy & paste” code they’re using to make that assertion…?

do you feel the same way about iFly…? If not, then why…?

How about Leonardo’s paid Mad Dog upgrade?

Or Just Flight and their BAe 146…? Or Hawk T1…? Or Vulcan? Or fleet of very expensive Pipers…?

ESPECIALLY since JF has the same work spread across not two, not three, but four different simulators, including X-Plane…?

By your  and @carlanthony24s “logic” those addons should only cost about $10-$15 each, right…?

And how in the heck is A2A Sims getting away with charging $50 for a single engine 1960’s GA piston????? Why, they’re clearly highway robberies!!!

What are PMDG “making right”…? AFAIK, there aren’t any features that have been added to the plan.

They begged Microsoft to include WASM so they could use C++ code. The WASM layer was specifically introduced to allow developers to port over legacy C++ code from previous simulation platforms. RSR wasn't best pleased when Microsoft/Asobo wouldn't release has quick as they would have liked. In the time it took they could of simply started writing the code and maybe been completed

Talking of the Maddog the upgrade was well recieved because of the high quality overhaul. Keyword being high quality overhaul and with what they were including in that price. I don't have the aircrafts you've mentioned so can't comment since I've never owned them but from what I found on the internet across various sites.

iFly isn't even doing paid upgrades to MSFS 24 even with the overhaul they are doing when the next update releases. At least they are taking community feedback and improving from pilots who submit evidence. Been said from Streamanddriver when he submitted evidence it wasn't taken onboard, potentially not even acknowledged or they said they didn't need information because the beta team was better (PMDG)

Look everyone was happy to pay for Fenix for V2 even smaller team than PMDG from what I am aware but no they refused to let that happen.

JustFlight from what I'm aware have not done any paid upgrades for MSFS 24.

Again PMDG openly said before when the Triple 7 released the sounds were new. Everyone knew they were not. Eventually they came out and admitted it, don't treat the community like fools. Every new sim PMDG request the community to buy why because they have the monopoly. Like previously mentioned all it takes is for another developer to create these Boeing aircrafts and PMDG will really have to think about what to do.

The person I was responding to, claimed that "PMDG did not sell any products for MSFS2020".

My post was merely showing that such a claim was nonsense.

I'm not sure what that has to do with any $5 discount 😄

They are actually updating the aircraft to MS2024 standards instead of trying to pass off an old model as 'new'. Many people have proven this to be true. It is so obvious, but you are obviously such a PMDG word not allowed you are missing the point every single time. Sad.

If we could only stick to the title of the post 😭...

This is exactly what I’ve been saying all along! Meanwhile, you guys arE complaining that their code base is just “ported” rehash that isn’t worth the money.

There’s a term for your assertion above, it’s called “gaslighting”.

You seem to mistakenly believe that flight simulation started in 2020.

ALL the examples I gave are of addons that have been “copy & pasted” across multiple versions of multiple simulators.

So when I see the same aspersions leveled at PMDG as though every single other developer writes a fresh code base for every simulator, I can’t do anything more than laugh in the face of those who have such righteous deliriums.

PMDG also has some products that have been on 'discount' for years, which AFAIK is technically illegal in the USA.

The DC6 for 2020 for example has been listed as $10 off for 4 years now.

It is funny to see those referring to "porting", who know absolutely nothing about software or development.   Content that can be 'ported' tends to be reference data, numbers, values, etc.

There is little else that can be 'ported' between sim iterations.

I think some people use the term 'ported' simply to mean "they released the same aircraft type again". 😄

I'm not defending PMDG.  I loathe some of their business practices, and RSR has an ego that, if converted to gaseous form, could provide fuel for a return mission to Mars.

But still.... the porting argument is largely miles off.

Where's the evidence the others copy and pasted we don't have that. According to various sites they were built specifically for MSFS from the ground up. You seem to love PMDG but hate facts when pointed out and result to some sort of insult. We are specifically talking about MSFS and how PMDG used old code to cut corners compared to others.

Just to add illegal to have a product on sale constantly and the EULA they created is not enforceable.

Just like PMDG did. If it wasn't ported you wouldn't get the same constant bugs for each sim from P3D days just to have them in MSFS... At least put effort in to correct them not years down the line.

Well, thinking about what I said above, that it tends to be only reference data that is ported, some of the bugs that were caused by imperfect data probably have been 'ported'.   I agree that they should have been refined between sim iterations.  But just because a dodgy entry in a systems.cfg file has been carried over to the next version, doesn't mean that the product on the whole has been 'ported'.

My guy, it’s better to remain silent and be thought [uninformed] than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt.
