Haha, they're trying hard to keep up with the iFly.  Not quite managing though, especially compared to what's coming out soon from iFly.

Yep. 2024 is superior than 2020 in every way. Better physics, better weather, more options for the third parties to build more realistic aircraft.

Yeah because those are the aircraft so many people have wanted to buy! Randazzo is a pragmatist, and a successful one.  He'll adjust PMDG’s business model as necessary to continue that succe

The difference being that we'll have our hands on this beauty in 5 days, whereas iFly are painfully slow at releasing updates.  Look how many years we've been stuck with that god-awful EFB.  I do love what iFly are promising but I'm not holding my breath as they are so slow to release anything.

The external and cockpit views are awesome. Don't really care about the cabin. I hope we're given the choice whether or not we want cabins.

With the 2024 modular system, de-selecting cabins is a thing of the past.  The modular system means that if you don't go into the cabin, it's not loaded or pre-fetched and flying with the cabin technically 'enabled' has no performance impact, versus not having it enabled.

Even the Fenix is like this now.   Try turning off the cabin in the EFB - then move the camera into the cabin - it's still there.   The feature is disabled and redundant (in 2024).

Better weather still can't sort turbulence out

I just can’t stand the horrible interface of 2024 and will never ever use it.

I look forward to your Vintage YouTube videos in 2034, where you're still happily plodding along with MSFS 2020 😆

Coming from MSFS2020, the MSFS2024 interface takes about 20 minutes to get your head around. If that's not worth the investment - for the plethora of improvements in MSFS2024 - no problem. You do you.

I wonder what PMDG's resoning was to make the 737-800 High Detail update last in the lineup? The -800 is by far the most popular model. That last line "we hope to have the 737-800 in testing not long after" gives me flash backs when they talked about the 737-700 for MSFS2024 😱. Several months later the -700 is finally happening.

I hope the 777 family gets the High Detailed Texture update.

I do believe PMDG will wait a while before retrograding the -800 with the High Detail Update. They'll want to leverage the fact that some impatient people will be so desperate for the High Detail Update for their -800, that they'll just buy the -700 to get it now.

The cynical part of my brain thinks that that is something PMDG would typically do, to put revenue before customer satisfaction.   The reality-based part of my brain wonders whether I would do the same thing, if it were my business 😄

Tell me, how many addons work with 2024? It is still the biggest word not allowed show ever in Flightsim history. Why do you like it so much? Just to post? How many years of Flightsim history do you have? I gladly sometimes fire up FSX to see damages, P3D to fly 787 and Dash

If MSFS 2024 was a word not allowed show, I would not be using it. When I decided to upgrade to MSFS 2024 last December, I did not have a single second of experience with it. I was expecting the controller setup to be a nightmare (based on what others had previously stated about it). Whilst it will not win any awards for ease of use or technical excellence, it did not take me long to figure out how to set up my PMDG aircraft. As for the rest of the menu, I am only interested in Free Flight, so I looked for the "Free Flight" option. After probably a couple of seconds of looking at the menu, I found it. Job done. The rest has been a piece of cake.

As for my MSFS 2020 addons (airports, and a handful of VFR landmark packages), most of them had options to install an MSFS 2024 version free of charge. For the ones that did not (I took the time to check carefully before I made the switch from MSFS 2020 to MSFS 2024), I saved a copy of the product folder in the MSFS 2020 Community folder prior to upgrading to MSFS 2024. I added those to the MSFS 2024 Community folder, and every one of them works just fine.

Now, you may have other MSFS 2020 addons like aircraft or utilities, so your mileage may vary (as they say). However, it was extremely easy for me.

I made the mistake of buying their Boeing Biz Jet for MSFS 2020. The textures are abysmal. Basically, FSX quality.

Those BBJ versions can carry a HUGE amount of auxiliary fuel

Yep. Between that and their typically minuscule passenger load, they can generally go twice as far of the commercial versions!
