tried default for quite a while, but it is too buggy 😕 I used FSHUD with P3D and MSFS 2020, but then stayed with BATC until now, and I do like it, specially the traffic injection component and the interface.

I couldn't care less about the voices 🙂

Using FSLTL with an old version of the reduced textures ( to 1k ) because my GPU is "only" 8 G

MSFS 2024's ATC is the worst of all the msfs sims, but the voices sound better in v2024. I do care for pleasant sounding voices.

BATC is my choice for IFR right now, but I'm going to have go back to using airports with DPs & STARS. It's the only way to get the best results.

Honestly, the “buggier version” framing kind of stings a little. We sell two packages, one early access version, where you get access to BeyondATC before its official release. We’ve tried to be a

I still need to bring a clarification to this. BeyondATC has never been driven by sales. In fact, the pricing model was specifically designed to lower the barrier to entry, so simmers can access

We're toxic? LOL

Yes, I appreceate the dialog and feedback loop.  We're definitely looking to provide feedback.

I hope to do more flying this weekend (my weeknights are pretty much non-starters these days) and get some meaningful logs.

Just some more observations:

-Seems like mid-size/regional airports are the issue.  KEYW was mentioned many times.  MK Studios released a great scenery there, so I hit it a lot.  One runway, not a lot of traffic.  It should be fairly straightforward, but these seem to be the types of airports where we get lost.  I hope to gather some more logs this weekend and share them on the discord to provide more info.

I'm guessing the people going to/from the larger hubs are seeing a lot less issues.

I tried to fly from LPMN (uncontrolled) to LPCS (controlled) and set the FPLN in the MSFS 2024 Map, started BATC, took off in my C172, climbed to cruise 2000' but whenever I hit the headphones icon in the BATC window I get no frequency or selectable actions to transmit ?

I thought that after leaving LPMN BATC could detect that I was under Lisbon (MIL) Control after leaving the aerodrome zone, just like IRL?

What am I doing wrong?

I think you have to use Simbrief for the plan for BATC to see it.  I don't think it can see an MSFS plan.  You should be able to take off from an uncontrolled field and just get clearance.

You always need a simbrief ifr fp in order to BATC to work.

In the future, you will be able to create a default vfr fp and batc will work.

Just tried my first flight doing traffic patten at ymml plenty of ifr traffic taking off and landing, first touch and go was able to land number one, second attempt was number 2 to land first flight no issues at all

Affirm! And supposedly in VFR mode you can pick your FPL from Simbrief, MSFS 2024 MAP FPL or an FPLN file...

That's what I did.

First I creatd it in the FS Flightplanner and exported to the Cloud, to be imported in the EFB. Then I even created it directly through the FS 2024 Map.

In either case I started the flight at LPMN (where I have my own glider IRL, and my main "BOP"), which at most (IRL) has radio, and took off announcing on 122.505 my intentions. Then I started my climb to the cruise alt of 2500 feet and waited for BATC menu to show me a contact to switch to Regional FIS whcih for the southern portion of mainland Portugal should be 130.900, but that never showed up in the BATC headphone menu...

Maybe I should have tuned it myself?

I did Squawk 7000, used by default accross Europe for standard VFR until assignd a specific code by ATC.

Vfr only works with towered airports currently in batc. Uncontrolled airports will come in a future update.

Would recommend reading the Wiki page which gives a good breakdown of the current functionality of VFR and regional differences.

VFR in BeyondATC - BeyondATC Help Center

Also has been an update which fixes some VFR issues (as well as IFR and general). For VFR

Quote

VFR Circuit Fixed an issue where ATC could advise a different circuit runway than the one assigned, causing an unexpected runway change on the downwind leg. Removed orbit count from hold instructions (US/AUS) until the system is more robust. VFR Arrivals Fixed the "Request Join" button not appearing when the departure and destination airports are very close together. The button now always shows and validates against the specific airport being called. Fixed a potential crash when landing at an arrival airfield and requesting taxi back to the runway. Aircraft Mapping Added: Carenado C182RG, Carenado C182Q, T-34A, T-34B, ICP Savannah-S, Vision Jet and Kodiak

Not sure if the latest little update worked some magic, but my last 2 flights have been much improved.  Made a short flight in a C208 from KBFI to KORS (I assumed BATC would struggle with the small airport and short flight).  Other than a very tight turn on final (nothing crazy for a Caravan), everything worked well.

Next flight - KFAT - KSNA.  More traffic, more going on.  I am able to use a STAR here so that seems to help, but the vectoring to the ILS approach is great.  Last minute, someone is cleared on the runway, so I take the go around.  It vectors me back around, granted a little too close to terrain, but still clear.  I was seconds from turning myself, but then the call came in time.  Then another good vector for final and an uneventful landing.

Just wanted to provide good feedback when I get good results as well.  Didn't seem like there was much in the latest update, but things seem much improved for me.  This is definitely more like it, and why I enjoy the program.  I just call it like I see it.

BFI to ORS - what flight plan route did you file and at what altitude?  Did you fly an instrument approach or just a visual?  I'd like to try as this is exactly why I bought BATC.  I just want to fly fairly short IFR hops and shoot an instrument approach for practice.  This is where batc usually fails me.  I'd guess 80-90% of simmers use airliners so for them it generally works fine.  When batc has charted procedures and longer ranges it seems to be pretty good.  (I posted about my recent 737 bbj flight in the other thread).

But short ranged flights really get the vectoring algorithms in a tizzy.
