Zibo and windshield rain effect on XP12

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was just doing a flight in rainy weather in Alaska with a default Zibo -800 and it was raining pretty bad but none of it was on the windshield as with some other aircraft. I seem to remember it working back in the day, but no joy now. Any ideas? Anyone else experiencing this?

What was your airspeed? If you fly faster than maybe 200kts TAS, usually raindrops do not "stick and run" on windshields, they pretty much blow apart when they hit and run off too fast to really see. Given the Zibo´s quality, it is possible that they tweaked the parameters of the windows in the "rain inspector" (you can do that, too, by going to the developer menu) and set certain parameters that affect how rain behaves when it hits the windows.

There is also the possibility that the windshield (part of the aircraft, not the weather engine) uses a transparency that does not provide for display of rain droplets.  Does it show on the ground?

The 3D rain works with the zibo mod, but it does switch to warp speed rain when in the air. Make sure you are inside the aircraft, flying from the exterior view won't give you 3d rain effect. NOTE: Zibo mod won't allow some changes via developer menu.

Now that would be an addon I would pay good money for, 3D rain effect that doesn't change to warp speed that actually flies into your aircraft. Lightning that works over the network and doesn't look as thin as a pencil.

I went back and forth with Austin about this, he finally agreed with me. He said maybe they could program the rain to be only visible in light cones. XP13 is my guess.

How do you like msfs2024 implementation?

Hi,

You know... I don't remember flying with inclement weather in 2024, I'll have to take a look at that next time I have 2024 up and running. Right now I'm doing night flights in XP12.

I was actually referring to it just sitting on the ground and not moving... I was expecting to see droplets run down the window. But I didn't. There is also a possibility that it was a freezing rain and maybe the sim considered it snow, which is why it didn't run down the window... it WAS really cold where I was flying from. Hmmm. I will try to fly somewhere warm with a strong rain... or rather just sit on the ground and see what happens.

Not sure if Zibo is using a custom rain engine for their aircraft but the default Sirrus aircraft rain effects are excellent and react nicely with the prop wash

Developer of Self-Loading Cargo - The Cabin Crew and Passenger Simulation Addon for MSFS, X-Plane, P3D and FSX

This is inside the zibo mod. Although I have fixed the dry spots where the 3D frame was located.

I love these effects! The default SR22 is excellent and about to become my favourite GA-plane. And the avionics have been massively extended. A great plane. Kudos to Laminar 🙂
