WOWWW. Instant WASM crash after selecting KSFO as my origin point. Just after spawning at the gate

This plane is un-flyable for me right now.

That's crazy. I've Never had one in the 350

I had repeatable WASM crashes in the PMDG 738 when importing the Simbrief FP in the FMC too.

What fixed it for me was this: when the plane was cold and dark, I would turn on the EFB only and then import the FP in the EFB. I would then start the plane, and from there I could import the FP into the FMC without any issue. Haven't had a WASM crash since.

I should also note that I'm on the SU5 beta.

Are you all on 2024 or do you also see problems with 2020?

I have never ever had a WASM crash before and I fly every day. Yesterday I had my first WASM crash with the 777 in 2020 (manifesting in frozen screens and switches). I find it odd, that I get a crash all of a sudden in that old platform, now that you all report crashes as well. The only thing I changed was that I installed VRAAS recently (more Simconnect traffic?). Or could the navdata be the missing link? I was using Navigraph cycle 2603 rev 3.

I never used to experience these crashes(?) in my case freezes, but I have encountered at least half a dozen in the past twelve months. Not sure why only in the past twelve months  They have all happened when I have tried to edit the FP in the FMC in the PMDG 738. Extremely frustrating when you've spent all that time planning and executing the flight and it happens when inputting the approach. Once again this has been a Simbrief FP that has been used, so that seems to be a common thread in many peoples' issues.

I’ve never had any WASM crashes apart from the early days of the ini A350.
Never even seen those orange screens since they were introduced a while ago - and now had 2 WASM crashes in the last week.
One was the PMDG 738 when loading a specific flight plan from simbrief (3 times in a row) and yesterday my ini A300F had the orange screens as I was changing the arrival runway into EDDP.

Not sure if that’s just bad luck or something changed…

To be specific- those crashes started at the end of February. It was faulty 2603 update from Navigraph which they fixed 3 times. I’m wondering if it has any relations. For now, in the PMDG world I’m entering FP into FMC manually. So far, so good, but who knows

I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but this post on the PMDG support forum provides some useful information regarding one aspect of the problem, namely possible issues related to the presence of other add-ons in the Community folder:

https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/general-discussion-news-and-announcements/390136-please-assist-us-understanding-wasm-crashes-better-even-if-you-do-not-see-them?p=390730#post390730

While not as definitive as one might like, the results do suggest that the frequency of WASM crashes is correlated to the total number of add-ons present in the Community folder. I keep my Community folder pretty clean and have had no WASM crashes in FS2024, but if I did, I would empty everything out other than the subject aircraft and see how it goes.

But that's just me. Others might find better, easier ways of debugging the problem. Cleaning out caches might help, too. Of course, someone might have better data than was collected by PMDG. Please share so we can all learn.

PS It is tempting to say, "It worked last week without crashing, so if it doesn't work this week, I know it's the fault of the most recently installed add-on.", but that might not be the case. If nothing else, the data seem to suggest that the scale of the problem is defined by interactions between the add-ons as much as it is by the add-ons themselves. K.I.S.S. may well be the best advice of all.

I have only had a handful of WASM crashes and they have all been with inibuilds airplanes easpecially the A350 when it was new, but only when it was new.  Never with PMDG.  I have a theory that anything that changes the core of the addon or Sim causes WASM crashes, texture replacements, ipad backgrounds, model, lighting changes, anything that messes with nav data, airport nav data, etc.  I have close to 300 addons.  I use very few free addons. I don't trust most sceneries and especially don't trust ones that have dependencies. Good luck.

I have never had a WASM crash in MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024, and I fly PMDG aircraft exclusively. However, I have never imported a flightplan from anywhere. Any flight plans that I use are created in the FMS. I have over a hundred payware addons (mostly airports) installed in the Community folders, and I have Navigraph Hub and Charts installed (and update to the new AIRAC cycle on a regular basis).

I never had a WASM crash in 2024 with the PMDG Boeings. I use the Simbreif import of FP's on all and never had any issue. And I have a full community folder with multiple aircraft and airports. I never update any aircraft. I do a total uninstall, reboot computer and reinstall of the updated new version and reboot computer again. This works for me thus far.

🤔

That sounds like a lot of unnecessary work.  I constantly update aircraft and other products. I've only ever had 1 WASM 'freeze' (never a crash with the orange screens), in the Ini A340. Since the last update to that plane, no WASM issues.

I note most people here are referring to Navigraph.  I've never used Navigraph. I wonder if the issues are indeed data related from the Navigraph build.

Not saying that you're incorrect, but I use Navigraph on all my flights. I've had some issues in the past with flight plans. But I always sent the plan to them and let them analyze it and see where the issues are. And they offer excellent support But last few months, haven't ant issues with Navigraph..

Me neither. No Navigraph and no wasm. Whether for PMDG 738, 777 or ini 350 or AS340 or iFly 738max or let alone the Fenix 3xx…. Now what? 😉
