FSHUD @ FSLTL Compatibility Heads-up

Featured Replies

@CFIJose yes I did read the thread. Thanks for asking.

I'd rather wait and see what solution, if any, FSHUD comes up with than buy it now and use an older version of FSLTL.

No. The FSLTL injector works perfectly with the latest version. This has to be a user error. Let me see if I still have the older version somewhere in my backup drive. BTW, AIG is an alterna

Well FSLTL did also say that it was their agreement with FR24 which was forcing them to make the change to remove the FSHud API connection from their injector. If FR24 say there was no agreement it so

I doubt that it's going to make a difference, but it's your call.

As long as you have the latest FSLTL models, the injector being older is not going to hurt your enjoyment of the add-on.

BTW, I do not use FSHUD, but I tried it and decided to settle with BATC. I just feel that if I can help one person restore their broken sim, I had a good day.

So far all that have requested and I've sent my 1.6.8 version, they said i works. So, 1.7.0, the link on this thread, should work.

Thanks on the link on this thread.  I may try it. Gives me an excuse to try batc again I guess. Happy Landings & Thanks Again

Silvio

I'm back Thanks for the link Sir,

I just came across this FR24 forum reply and it raises an obvious question for me:\n\nhttps://forum.flightradar24.com/forum/radar-forums/flightradar24-api/232177-question-regarding-of-the-free-fr24-live-data-api-shutting-down-on-30th-of-april\n\nA Team FR24 reply there says they never had an agreement with FSLTL, that they were not shutting down APIs on April 30, and that there has never been any free FR24 API. They also say FSLTL and others were using FR24 data without permission.\n\nSo if that is the case, why was FSHud compatibility blocked in the first place? I thought the explanation was tied to FR24 non-commercial licensing, so now I’m genuinely confused what the real reason was.

@malichek As I remember it (I was using FSHUD at the time), FSLTL said that FSHUD could not use FSLTL becuase FSHUD was a commercial, paid for product, whereas FSLTL was free to use. That was seen as a contradiction.

What confused things at the time and gave some conspiracy theorists something to chew on was that one of the main FSLTL developers joined BATC, a direct competitor to FSHUD around about the same time.

Wish FSHUD could get with the PSXT & REALTRAFFIC crew.

How on earth would that work? PSXT traffic replicates the movement of the real world aircraft by interpreting their ADSB data. FSHud needs to be able to position the aircraft as it sees fit, so that it can control them in the same way as the user aircraft. They're just (and in my opinion always will be) incompatible products.

Well FSLTL did also say that it was their agreement with FR24 which was forcing them to make the change to remove the FSHud API connection from their injector. If FR24 say there was no agreement it sort of casts doubt on that statement. Also, if it wasn't FR24 that was causing this change then, conspiracy theory or not, it makes the BATC vs FSHud argument more likely, especially given that the developer (whakamolenz) was/is still active in both BATC and FSLTL support roles.

I think ConstVoid is right on that one. For me the whole point of FSHud is that it can sequence and vector traffic around my flight, so I use it with regular AI traffic rather than real-world replay traffic. PSXT/RealTraffic is great if your priority is mirroring the live sky, but once the ATC engine needs to start moving aircraft tactically those two ideas pull in different directions.

To clarify again and to avoid speculation:

As I mentioned previously in a different thread, whakamolenz created the FSLTL injector. However, once he began working on BeyondATC, that became his full-time focus and he has not contributed to FSLTL since then. The FSLTL project continued under the work of the rest of the team, and the injector has since been maintained and updated by other team members.

Because of that, there is no basis for suggesting that BeyondATC may have take action against anyone. In fact, if anything, there could have been opportunities for stronger integration with FSLTL given that whakamolenz was originally involved with the project and knew how it worked, but that never materialized.

It is also important to remember that FSLTL has always been a team effort. Even while he was involved, there were other contributors, and they are entirely separate from BeyondATC. They are fully capable of making their own decisions, especially considering that he was no longer involved in the project. All decisions were taken to keep the FSLTL project available for as much time as they possibly could and as a freeware for the community.

As for FSLTL more broadly, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But it is worth keeping in mind that FSLTL has always been a freeware project, while FR24 is a commercial company. They may each have their own reasons for how they choose to communicate.

So has anyone found out the ”source” for FSHud and the so called new live traffic?

Would not be surprised if it’s flight radar 24.
