I created a new method to set a realistic haze in XP12

No sign of any pauses on first 10-minute tests. Just a momentary flash as we begin to load a new flight, which I'd expect. Looks like you've cracked it.

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words, and what a validation coming from someone with 31 years at the Met Office working with ECMWF data. That means a great deal.  You've understood exactly

Thank you for the candid feedback. I'm happy to address each point directly. On incorrect assumptions about X-Plane's weather engine: I'd genuinely welcome specifics here. Au

Great! Thanks again. The version is showing as 1.9, rather than 2.0...

Sorry about that - V2 is now uploaded!!

I would love to install this fix for haze, but it appears to be quite complicated to set up. I am worried that trying to install it will lead to further problems other than the haze itself. Is there ever going to be a simple plug and play script for ease of installation?

Complicated to set up? I'd advise you to either read the very short and simple guidance notes, or avoid this plugin.

With all respect there are 5 pages and over 60 responses on this forum topic, to getting this plugin set up. There are many comments from obviously knowledgeable users, stating that there are problems with the installation and getting the plugin to work effectively. Short and simple to set up yes, but getting it to work effectively not that simple. Thanks for your input anyway, im sure you meant well.

The latest version has fixed all the issues you have read about.  Place files in the scripts folder and you are done.  A couple of checks you can do to stop the most common issues are...

  1. You may find your system 'blocks' the download. If this happens (you will see 'not yet queried' in the window) right click AHHelper.exe, select properties - look for an 'Unlock' check box, tick it and click ok.
  2. Add an exclusion for the scripts folder in your anti-virus.

It has only been a few days since I released it so I am very thankful for all the bug reports here and on the ORG.  The script is stable now so you shouldn't meet any of the bugs you have read about.

Thats brilliant. Thanks for the informative reply. I will give it another try!

There's one more... If the token suspecting linux user has Wine installed and replaces line 426 with:

os.execute('WINEDEBUG=-all wine ' .. ah_helper_exe .. '&')

it works on that OS too. I believe macOS has wine too? No clue how to start it there though. Of course that's irrelevant in the event you were already planning on cross compiling AHHelper.exe for the other OSes...

Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

In the next version I am correcting how quickly the haze clears.  What should happen is the haze level is consistent up to the BLH (Boundary Layer Height).  Once above that altitude the haze will clear.  I have mistakenly started clearing the haze as soon as you leave the ground, slowly clearing it all the way to the BLH.

V2.1 released.  Haze is now consistent up to the BLH (Boundary Layer Height), then starts to clear.  This fixes the clearance starting as soon as the aircraft leaves the ground.

For the avoidance of doubt, is the Helper exe required to reinstall? I've done that anyway, Windows having identified a tiny file size change...

One curious thing I observe is that when enabling two smaller monitors for pop-out G1000 displays, when I go to FWL Macros>AutoHaze Settings, there is no AutoHaze settings box appearing on any of the monitors. When I disable the G1000s and the small screens and go back to a single monitor, the settings box appears on the main monitor. This only happens when I've assigned a pop-out instrument to the small monitor(s) in XP.. So, running two subsidiary monitors with no popouts assigned still results in the AH settings box appearing on the main monitor. Odd...

@Brian Mackie, you gave me some invaluable advice when i asked about issues relating to this plugin. I suggest you use the same advice you gave me.

P.s My setup is working perfectly now. I would offer you assistance, but i guess you are too busy reading the short and simple guidance notes.
