Which no brainer airport for 1 -2 hrs airliner flight ?

Featured Replies

Hi, I would like to begin to practice airliner flight and I need to purchased 2 airports cat 3 or 4 to practice IFR, etc... I have Fenix A320 and PMDG 737-600 associated to MSFS 2024. I have a lot of freeware, but would like more complete scenery that have NO bugs for IFR. Esthetic is not so important, but technic parameters for radio and navigation yes. Do you have 2 airports to suggest for short fl;ight (1 hr or 2 max) ?

Thanks you for your contribution.

Do you mean anywhere in the world?   Or this one of those requests where people suggest anywhere, but they really mean just in the continental US? 😉

You don't need to "purchase" any airports to do this.

The game has most any airport you could want to use.

They are many tools to create short flights online.

Little Navmap being free and a fine example.

These are the airports I use whenever I try out a new plane or procedure or want to test something.

Close buy and easy to takeoff and land at. Taking off from KSAN is favorable.

Purchase if that is what you are aiming for or just use the default if you are not ready to buy yet. 2 very good addon airports. Specially KSFO

MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.

I've never bought a single 3rd party airline airport.  There's no need.  When it comes to atmospheric GA or bush strips, yes, 3rd party scenery can significantly help.  When it comes to large airline airports though, pretty much all of them in the sim are plenty usable as-is.

I'd say start with some airline flights to default airports and see if you even like this kind of simming before you start spending money on scenery you may end up not using regularly.

For A320 and B737, if you are looking for a good short exercise, use KJFK 31L JFK5 CRI to KLGA RNAV X RWY 31. You will get a short flight with good use of LNAV and VNAV. To make it easy, you can restrict the climb, cruise, and descend page speed to 180 at 3,000 FT. This will keep you busy for a while.
Also, you can try into KEWR RNAV X 29. Short flights with a lot of good work. No more than 20 MIN flight time.

Mehh, they're totally usable, yes. But it does add so much to the immersion to land at an airport with high quality runway textures, and where the terminal buildings look exactly like their real world counterparts. I buy a lot of third party airports.

I totally disagree with you. Pay ware airports offer more realism and accuracy to anything default. Terminals don't look like barns with jetways attached to them and airlines are parked at the correct gates. Now I will agree with you on bush flying scenery, it's totally cool.

In that case you don't need to buy anything to practice IFR with complex airliners.

My test flight is KEWR to KIAD. Or KEWR to KBOS.

Anywhere is ok. I forget to specify that I am ready for payware, but no bugs.

Oh, I have FSDT Vancouver but never tried. So only another one to purchase would be cool. Thanks.
