My test flight is KEWR to KIAD. Or KEWR to KBOS.

Thanks you, very valuable choice too.

If you need some real world routes, you can always find some great ones here and filter by 1-2hrs.

Since you say you have Vancouver and are asking for a "no brainer", I would start by flying between Vancouver and the default version of Seattle (if you haven't done so already). A nice short route with beautiful scenery, and the default Seattle isn't half bad.

Calgary

As the next airport to buy, my "no brainer" would be Calgary CYYC by FSimStudios:

I don't have this addon myself, but people here on the forum have been saying good things. Again, a relatively short flight from Vancouver, with beautiful views of the Rockies.

You say that you're open to flying anywhere, but for many people, flying in their own part of the world does have a particular appeal -- hence my Canadian recommendation.

Oslo - Stockholm

Once you do want to explore further afield, let me suggest the city pair Oslo ENGM and Stockholm ESSA.

There are several versions of Oslo available. I would recommend the Aerosoft version by renowned developer Jo Erlend Sund:

Stockholm has a nice rendition available by Orbx:

Oslo - Stockholm is a nice short route, and there's lovely scenery in this part of the world. As additional destinations from Oslo, I would recommend two freeware sceneries, Bergen and Stavanger. These are among the best freeware sceneries available for MSFS.

Hi, I would like to begin to practice airliner flight and I need to purchased 2 airports cat 3 or 4 to practice IFR,

what do you mean with CAT3 or CAT4 airports?

Do you mean the ILS cat 3b?  Not sure if the MSFS actually models it to that degree level. They are just ILS's and all have the same accuracy.

I think the OP may mean the runway length category from the ICAO Reference Code.

Category 3 is 1200 to 1800 meters, and category 4 is 1800 meters and above.

In that case, try to get an A320 into Bern LSZB.

Or get an 737-800 into Southhampton EGHI

If you have a BBJ or ACJ with addtional challanges Samedan also is short; LSZS.

Isle of man is also served by Easyjet so get an A320 into EGNS.

Bristol EGGD coming in from the west RWY09 also feels short as it is slightly down hill.

I've been on a bit of a mission to land on short runways recently!

Key West, KEYW is another good one - 1550m. There's a really good new scenery for it by MK Studios. Frequently served by A319 and 737-700s.

And British Airways have just started up a new route (well resumed after a long break) from Heathrow to Guernsey in the Channel Islands which is also only 1460m and designated Airbus A319 or A32N only. Same for Florence LIRQ which is only 1560m.

Jersey, also in the channel islands is also fun at 1700m.

I have landed my PMDG 737-600 at LSZB Bern. The biggest challenge there is turning the aircraft at one of the runway end turning areas without clipping the grass  Of course, I could get it stopped at shorter runways if I "cheated" (used manual brakes from touchdown). Since manual braking with my CH Flightstick Pro joystick is pressing and holding BUTTON1, it is way too effective for normal braking procedures. To make it more realistic, I use the "3" setting on the Autobrake, and thrust reversers down to 65 knots.

Stockholm-Oslo is appealing too. My problem is the varieties of opinion found on the web from one site to anothers when reviewing the airport and do not want to purchased so-so airport quality. When I say no brainer, I means ILS trouble free per exemple. If Calgary is really good in that sens, Kelowna paired to Calgary with Vancouver is a good shot for canadian. I would like Toronto-Montreal-Quebec, but MTL and Qc have not so good reviews.

OH, good to know, I was not aware of that. Yes, in fact I want trouble free ILS airport for airliner testing.
