I am using Quest 3 with my own glasses and with no problem. It can be adjusted and and I think no need for additional lens inserts. But of course it is a personal decision.

I did the same but the lenses of my glasses started scratching the Quest 3 lenses. I changed to prescription lense inserts, which made wearing the Quest 3 significantly more comfortable. Btw, I got these lenses through AliExpress at a very good price.

This is indeed a high risk. I switched to VR several years ago, starting with an Oculus Rift S. My second headset was the HP Reverb G2 and currently I am happy with my Quest 3 in combination with an R

From what I could see Pimax don't sell lenses for Crystal Light

I am sure they did a couple of months ago, actually there were several add-on packages available. Seemingly all these were discontinued now.

Kind regards, Michael

Same here. When wearing my glasses they contacted the lenses of the headset which caused a small mark on the headset lens and on my eyeglasses. Got some Hons VR prescription inserts and it is far more convenient and comfortable and the headset lenses are protected.

The Quest seems to be a good offer

complex configuration (as per KT069) , unlike Pimax. just watch the 2 youtubers I have listed above, then you'll know all you need.

coming from a HP G2, I tried the Quest 3, didn't like the META circus, loved the fantastic color pass through. but went with the Pimax Crystal Light instead. my next VR set could be the Steam Frame VR, Meganex MK2 or Pimax DreamAir.

no need for additional lens inserts.

Why people prefer them:

  • Much more comfortable (no glasses pressing into your face)
  • Sharper image quality—you’re always looking through the “sweet spot” of the lenses
  • No frames blocking your peripheral vision
  • Protects the headset lenses from scratches
  • Easy to install (often magnetic or snap-in)

Downsides

  • Extra cost
  • Not ideal if multiple people share the headset (unless you remove them)

very easy with magnetic lens inserts.

If you are new to VR I'd pay close attention to the FOV. Some people are not bothered by low FOV but I've gotten burned by one headset that had better resolution but poor FOV compared to an earlier one. I ended up giving it away and going back to my older headset until I got one of my Pimax sets that I'm currently using. Once I had good FOV I could not go back to feeling like I was looking through binoculars with low FOV. Now I look at horizontal and vertical FOV closely when looking into new headsets.

Interesting - I bought the Pimax Super OLED 8K bundled, which includes the Pimax Ultrawide. The Ultrawide does have a great FOV, but just can't compete with the shear gorgeousness of the 8K OLED.

To me, having a smaller FOV but superb quality is worth the trade off in terms of head and eye movement. Also the extra pixels generated by the wider FOV does have a significant impact on FPS.

Each to their own, but I'm going to return the Ultrawide.

Which were these two headsets ?

I used a Valve Index for a long time, then 'upgraded' to a Bigscreen Beyond, which I ended up giving away and going back to the Index. I've had two Pimax Crystals and I agree, there is a trade-off that a super-wide FOV could also degrade quality. I avoided the Ultrawide Crystal for that reason even though it was tempting. I ended up with the 50ppd Crystal Super and am happy with it. It has a super-wide mode but the quality and overlap are disagreeable to me so the 50ppd Crystal for me is about the best of both worlds for me with current headsets. They have a 57ppd as well, and I'm sure the picture quality is great but I didn't want the FOV loss.

The Quest 3 increased their price by $100 recently. It's not $499 any more, it is $599.

The best images are on the Pimax Dream Air ($2,400). But like the Quest 3 you need comfrort accessories.

The meganex superlight costs about the same because you need to buy camera tracking system. But it is the world's most comfortable headset. And right below the Dream Air in visuals. It's about $1,700 plus the cost and bother of cameras.

Big Screen Beyond 2 under $1,100. But you need one or two Steam base stations. But tracking is supurb. They also have built in eye tracking for dynamic foveated rendering. DFR yields a larger improvement in fps than fixed foveated rendering. Very light and comfortable.

Both the Meganex and Big screen are way more comfortable than Pimax Dream Air. But all 3 are small and lightweight.

Steam/Valve is supposed to release their new headset soon. I think it will cost about the same or less than the Pimax Crystal Light. Will compete with Q3 and PCL for lower price headsets.

I use a Pimax Crystal Light. I am very happy with it.

To get the best VR experience, you need headsets that cost more than 2.000 $, with video card(s) that cost more than 2.000 $.

And there I am, running my Pico4 on my GTX1070ti :')

I bought a 5090 last year before hardware prices went haywire. I was going to buy either Quest 3 or Pimax Crystal but I've decided to wait for Valve's Steam Frame.
